iPhone headphones not working

I got the iPhone 4 and the headphones are working but the multi-functional button is not. They didn't work from when I opened the box does anyone know if they're just a faulty pair or if I have to do something? I didn't have to with my iPhone 3GS though.

Seems likes it's just a faulty pair, just go to an Apple Store and they will tend to replace them for free :)

Thats true but i'd like to get some use out of them before the button breaks :P
