I know we are still two months away to this being released however..

I was wondering, since I know that it is a big loss on habbox's part when the whole month's money goes to Charity, why don't you make the cost of VIP £3? Then you take £1 out, and then do the same thing as normal giving the rest to charity? The charitys would still benefit hugely, but Habbox would also still get some income? You could even go further and do the whole 'VIP+' thing charging £5 a month or something (and take £1/2).

Just an idea.

I fear this may breach the fansite rules, as we are then making money from bonus features - which is why we are not allowed to sell VIP in the first place.

Yeah that's exactly it. It would be no different to cashing in on normal VIP and we can't do it unfortunately.

I would not pay £3 for one month of VIP.

Surely if you are giving half the money away (or even more) to charity, Sulake wouldn't complain? I would have thought the fact HABBO fansites are giving money to charity, would be a boost for HABBO.

EDIT: Neversoft the fact is many people do pay it. Just look at what a success VIP+ was.. - also I wouldn't pay for it myself. I would give people habbo stuff

Take a chance. Are they even strict on fansite way breaches like that anymore?

Not sure half the staff know what an official fansite is :L

The most they will do is ask you to stop giving money to charity (well obviously they won't, but that's what you could make it out as..)

As Garion said we're not allowed to do it unless 100% of the money goes to charity. We did want to do it for Easter but being so near Christmas and all of the proceeds needing to be donated Habbox wouldn't have coped. It is a nice idea thought!

That's a shame - I guess with the whole .com hotel crap you cannot even risk it - otherwise you won't even be allowed to advertise habbox!

Would you be allowed to OFFER people to donate to habbox, rather than the charity?

1) It breaks the fansite way
2) I'm not paying 3£ for a months vip lol

We do offer that option and in return we are allowed to give people the donor features. It to is against the fansite rules to falsely offer VIP features in return for money.

Will there be Christmas Donator?

Hopefully there will be Christmas VIP as there has been for the past four years. :)

Oh I just meant because Habbox aren't allowed to sell VIP but I really like the Christmas Colour.

We're allowed to sell VIP as long as ALL the proceeds from that month are donated to charity. The original was idea was to charge more for it and take a proportion of that for ourselves which we're not allowed to do.

Hopefully they get rid of the hideous line at the top this year :P

I think different colours ;) Haha joking - I get it to see who repped, coloured name, name changes

Ohhhh I get ya now. Well, I guess if it goes to charity that's good. Stupid rule though, bloomin' Habbo.

Someone posted a comment from a Habbo Staff member that banning VIP wasn't the intention...perhaps Matt could send out some feelers to Sulake?

I've sent an email to a member of Sulake Staff and see if they can shed any information or pass us into the right directions, contact details aren't that too great at the moment.

Yes. That was me. If anyone is curious by what he means:

I believe the premium services rule was created because some non-English speaking fansites were covering their costs by selling Habbo merchandise they created themselves (t-shirts with Habbo graphics on for instance) and that was a clear copyright violation. It could be that they're perhaps implemented the rule stricter than intended and I'll ask if it's possible to revisit that.

That's just a little bit weird. Since when was a t-shirt classed as any kind of service let a long a premium one.

Maybe try contacting her directly? The typical contact emails tend to suck...sometimes direct emails to the right people work.

Just make a 'Habbox Charity' to help MattG who I hear is about to die of testicular cancer or something along those lines.

jks btw. In seriousness, I don't think Habbo actually even cares about fansites anymore, so doubt they would notice or even care if VIP was introduced.

It was a direct email instead of the ones that are like contact@blah blah, if that's what you mean?

As in to a staff member's personal (well not personal but staff email). Some will reply to random inquiries, others won't. I don't know who is and who isn't I just know some are good some are bad.

Again VIP+ was £3 and many people bought it.

It was an EXAMPLE, I am not forcing any prices in to it, however last time I said x pounds people didn't understand..
