So I know a lot of girls have read Twilight, but I was interested to see if any males around town have read the books, and what they think of them :P

I bought them for my Mum for Christmas and she's read them all. I had the intention of reading them after her but I watched the first film and it's put me off - they just seem so slow moving and boring :(

I'll stick to Harry Potter, thank you!

Hehe my explanation is exactly the same as this... err... except for that Harry Potter part.

I actually watched the first Twilight film in French (LOL I was bored, okay?) but there was nothing "special" which happened.

Although I despise Twilight, I don't think it is fair to categorize it as a girls only thing (I know you're not but the way you've posted the thread makes it a bit like that). I'm sure plenty of males read it too. :)

I am sure a lot of males are interested in it and have watched the film/read the book but in my opinion it is kind of aimed more at the female market. I'm not really into reading so I haven't read it, I'm sure one day I will end up watching the film though.

I read half of the first and had to put it down. Stephanie Meyer cannot write.

Never read it, don't plan on reading it.

I've read the complete saga. It didn't particularly appeal to me - they are slow moving in the books too (Mathew highlighted this in the film), the whole Jacob / Edward thing is drawn out and made really annoying and Bella's emoesque depression is categorically the most annoying thing I've ever read in my life. I also hate the way Meyer appears to want to make every so ridiculously lovey dovey and happy. For example...
It would have been far better if at the end of Breaking Dawn there was a massive vampire war and a few people died but no!

They weren't great, but they weren't excruciating to read either. I just don't start a book / series of books without finishing it, so I carried on.

The films are so ridiculously terrible the books seem like a waste of time to read.
Also I don't read books.

I wouldn't read them even if my life depended on it :l Won't even watch the films. I have a life and don't need to read/watch complete and utter dribble.

I've not been interested in reading them nor have I been over excited in anticipation for the films to be released. I probably will watch the films one day but not just yet. Also, I don't know if its just me but did the films take about 2 months to film or something because they've just been coming out one after the other.

I've read the whole saga but I hated the way no one died and all the way through Breaking Dawn I felt like killing myself, it just felt like an outdated storyline. But Eclipse I thought was really good because it was different to the other books and films.

Yeah I've read them and I love them, they're better than the films in my opinion.

No and I do not intend to. The whole romantic storyline thing is not my thing, I am more into the gothic-horror genre & all these vampires and stuff make it seem like a load of crap tbf.

Dont even want to watch the film tbh

The films were paintful enought to watch and they say films never cover the full book.. well thank god for that!

Again an opinion. She is a far more successful writer than you? :P I understand when people dislike the books, I hate them, but when they have been so successful..

Yes, she is a more successful writer than me, but are you going to argue with Stephen King, one of the most seminal writers in the history of literature, who said, and I quote, "Stephanie Meyer can't write worth a damn"?

My sister and I decided to read them to see what they're like. I'm only around half way through the first one but so far it's a lot better than the movie I must say.

I have read the first one, as my ex made me.. However I hated it, it just seemed to be filled with lovey monsters.
