View Full Version : Late Night Moderation

Moderation in the early hours of the morning (UK Time) is seriously lacking, since Habbox is now trying to aim at people from AU/US/CA/UK doesn't it seem natural that these users might use the Forum? Well if they're going to use the Forum aren't they going to be needing moderating?
Take for example a Canadian User decides to break the rules because of the lack of Moderation and post pictures of Hardcore Pornography. It's something my poor innocent pure eyes shouldn't have to see. But without late night moderation the chances are a lot of International Users are going to see it, including myself. Scar me for life that will. Hate such filth :'(
But on a serious note, even though Management and Super Moderators logon in the mornings, the early hour of the morning is still primetime for users in other countries so shouldn't moderating really be covered to reflect that?
Thanks and I'd love to hear some feedback from the Dragons.
Unless they get good international applicants, this problem will be there. However, I think your example is pretty unrealistic since there is only a few users actually online at that time.

At the moment there's not that many users online in early hours of the morning, but what about when more users from other countries, thanks to the merge, starts registering? However i did do a worst case scenario, although when people of the forum are "exposed" they usually do it in the early hours of the morning to prolong the period it's on the forum.

Well since you can't force people to not go to bed and stay awake to enure the forum is moderated between X:XX Am and X:XX Am is pretty unrealistic. Not all moderators go bed early and some do stay up quite late depending on what they are obviously doing the following day, but if no International people apply to be a Moderator then how can this solved?
Edit: I would also like to addon on that not many people are online at this time and not many posts even get reported, two reported posts.

I have noticed this particularly when I was a super moderator. From around 8-10am I always used to be the only one online with moderation powers. When I was off last week I noticed it too. However, this isn't a major problem with only 15-25 people online.

8-10am is normally the time people get up in the morning and go to school/college and sometimes even University. Unless people who don't have a job or who don't have an education for various reasons then I'm not quite sure how 8-10am can be covered most of the time during the weekday. Members of the Mod team or management may pop up on the forum at certain times if they aren't doing anything or have a day off though.

People shouldn't be so lazy. Sleep's overrated. Lols messin' but still, how do you not get many Applications for Forum Moderators that are international... I've gotta say apart from HxL isn't the moderation department like the next most applied for? Tbh I would of applied but I'd need a miracle to be accepted and we can both agree on that haha.
Also thanks for the addon but I'm not saying it's the most IMMEDIATE issue, although it's still an issue now, it's not really a huge one but could become a bigger issue as Habbox pushes into global expansion with the newly merged Habbo.com...

As I said in a previous feedback thread; HxF, Events, HxL, etc all seem to open up for business at around 4pm and last until about 11pm. Then activity is low and there's not many staff on to run the departments.
It's not Habbox's fault at all - there's nothing they can do about it - but there could be a whole new set of staff and members out there that could make use of this site when it's not (currently) in it's prime :)

Jamesy can give you an answer in terms of how many international people have applied within the last time the applications were open, not that long ago. If it does become an issue and it does see that Habbox has a vast number of people online between those times then it's something we shall try and solve and do our best to push/get people from the different time zones to apply but at the moment there is no 'major' need.

When it comes to that time I'll apply and be rejected ;) <3
On a serious note, thanks for taking the advice and exploring it if it becomes a bigger issue. xoxox

Since my moderation trial begun, I have been logging in nearly every morning doing a scan of pretty much all unread threads/post in my section. I wouldn't really say there is ever much rule breaking done in the space of 1am - 7:30am (the time I am offline) as I only ever recall having to deal with rule breaks the odd couple of times in the morning. Not really had much time this morning, it's nearing 8am and I have school!!

There weren't many international applicants and of those there was only one who I thought's application was good enough, so HotelUser is our lonely non GMT mod :P. I'd love some more international staff maybe in future, but the forum department isn't one where I can open specific international apps and I can't do much if only a few apply.

See that's where I say, I would apply but I have a fear of rejection :'(

I was on between they times near enough every day last week so I would have been online :P

I went to bed around 2/3AM last night and then i'm sure a member with moderation powers would have been on around 6/7am that could have sorted stuff out between that 3 or 4 hours where no-one was online. Really it isn't a problem when SMODS come on in the morning there is never very many post reports for during the night. Like today there were only 2 and i'm sure it would have been the same yesterday.
Like you said if more people start coming then that's great maybe one of them could be the future international moderators! New international members would be good though as I know there normally isn't very many online during they times :p

I'm usually up until like 5am and I never see anyone purposely breaking the rules because no moderators are on. There really is no cause for concern.

This really. As it's been said when I log on in the mornings (or if any other SMOD does) there are only one maybe two post reports at the most showing that maybe there isn't that many rule breaks during the night. There is always at least one SMOD/ADMIN logging off around 2/3am most nights and then another on at 7-9am. However it would be nice for some internationalist mods but you cant force people! :)

Not trying to hint you want a trial, are you? :P:P
As I said this morning; it's not a major problem so unless there's a sudden increase of "international" members which flood in (which I highly doubt, considering it's months since the merge and still there isn't that many) then it's fine.

It's not like you're not used to that sort of example anyway  On topic, all departments within Habbox are inactive during them times, so is the forum moderation so you can't really do much about it until some international moderators apply.

Most departments as said before are inactive at nights. I have applied but as Jamesy said our applications weren't good enough and thats not the forums fault. But anyways yeh most departments are inactive at this time. :P
