There area few things to consider...

Intel or AMD
What socket your processor is...
ATX or mATX
How many module ports it needs (RAM Ports)
Whether it needs SATA &/or IDE connectors#
PS2 connectors or just USB

Get back with that information and maybe we can help :)

Thanks, Lew.

Intel or AMD Personally prefer Intenl
What socket your processor is... I've seen on some "bundles" they include a processor, If not then i'd like a fairly decent processor to work with DDR3
ATX or mATX ATX
How many module ports it needs (RAM Ports) 2-3
Whether it needs SATA &/or IDE connectors Both please
PS2 connectors or just USB USB

Do you want USB 3.0 as well or just 2.0?

I think usb 2.0 will prob do to be fair.

Probably this (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/193509) then.

Lets you use an i3/i5 or i7 with the LGA 1156 chipset, It has both IDE and SATA, lets you run 2200+MHz DDR3 RAM (4 slots) and it also has USB 3.0 (although you said it didn't matter).

What processor and intercooler would i put with that?
Plus it supports up to 16gb of ram, So that'd be 4x4gb sticks?

Processor wise I would probably go for an i5 660 (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/185940) - It would come with a stock cooler but I don't really have any knowledge of using an aftermarket cooler.

Yeah, that would make up the 16GB.

I like OCZ, Kingston or Crucial.

You won't need an additional network card but you may want a wireless nic.
If you just need wireless then (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132449) or if you want N then (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166269)

There could be a big difference if you bought the parts in a bundle. There are several bundles on ebuyer such as: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/237051 & http://www.ebuyer.com/product/237053

Its just a case of adding a few bits to the package :)

General coding, facebook, msn, skype, vpn, all the usual stuff done on a PC will be ok on that spec. Its when it comes to gaming ect that you will need good spec.

Alot of people buy high spec PC's/components for the sake of having them.

Also, dnt forget you will need 64bit OS otherwise no more than 2/3GB of ram will be recognised/used

No but it has built in (the 2nd bundles i showed)

It has Integrated ATI Radeon 3000, if that isnt good enough, you an get hold of a 1gb GFX card for about £40 :) like: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176815

Well, Ive got a basic PC (Intel celeron 2.1ghz, 2gb ram, 1tb hdd, 1gb graphics) and sims 3 worked on it fine :)

That spec AMD PC a few posts above will work perfect I should think :)
