Thats what we were doing, although Chris seems to send things unfinished.

The only things that are "unfinished" that are running are basically typos.
The new backup is being a pain in the arse.
I could make it work but then Dan would get an annoying window every 10 minutes.
I am currently trying to find a better way.
And the main reason it was down the other night is to initialise a backup that can only be done on the live server.


As for "blown up or vanished"...
We can now protect zones!
If you want your area protected you can ask in game or send me a PM (see spoiler at the bottom).

And as for vanished...

Yes, /eb was unstable.
Yes, I did fix multiple problems with it.
Yes, it was still unstable.
Yes, we limited it's use to small things (only big things had broke it as of then).

Yes, we got rid of it.
Yes, the replacement seems much more stable.

Yes, we have had a few large backups.
No, these were not caused by any new features!

They were caused by not thinking to backup before you delete a massive area and things like that...

Dunno if you ever went on Niamh's build server where we had /z to cuboid things and you choose like from one block to another, but that's basically how the protection's set on. Once an area's been set to be protected certain people can be added to that area's safe list and only these people will be able to place or destroy items within it. Did a quick test of it with cecer yesterday and it seemed to be working fine, the only problem being that water and lava from outside is still able to flow into a protected area, but that ought to be easy enough to combat.

No, it's my outside house that I built so I could work on a small self-sutained ranch which I could link up to the main cities when we got minecarts. It's close to the base of the lighthouse.

TOM'S TRAVELS SOUTHWARDS

Ok so like apparently the map is 8 times the size of the Earth so I'm not likely to be able to get the southwesternmost point any time this decade, but today when I got on I thought it would be fun to try it (I only found out the true size of the server world about half hour ago) but yeah apparently I managed to get 6km west and 15km south of the village, far enough to warrant a warp being made for the spot I ended up at :P few points of interest on the way where I was being a tourist and took pics:

It's all just a matter of trust. TNT really does help for a lot of things, I love to make underground designs and having TNT would help a lot. If a griefer is in the game, all they have to do is set fire to something anyway.

Some of the griefing was caused by Lava
Lava is ALWAYS logged upon creation.

So I am making sure the server stays empty till Dan can send the log file.
If you are on you will fill up the log file and make it take hours to find who did it.

Nah the /compass command, it's meant to tell you which way you're facing. If it worked the same way as the crap compass item surely it would have told me northwest as soon as I set off since I left from the big obsidian thing idk, anyway based on my the directions I was going the right of the map is south, because turning right when facing south makes you face west and all I was doing was forwards/right. Boy scout knowledge 2k10

STORYTIME!

As you people may or may not be aware, the area to which I walked was chosen as a stop point because much of the surrounding landscape was in my eyes fantastic as it stood with potential for some picturesque modifications and additions such as the large forest I planted, the mountain gates I built/sculpted and some work on the cliffs to make a cove area. Obviously, with any large project such as this I was happy to have it far far away from the main building areas in order to keep it somewhat secluded and not have views obstructed by hundreds of ugly lava rivers and glass huts that people seem to like.

Imagine then my delight when apple logged in, immediately tp'd to me in this area and began a wide lava flow down a hillside "miles away from anything" (ie; about 50 steps from a tower and still right on the cliffside) claiming that he was simply trying to set fire to trees (the first of which was quite a way down said hillside) to clear space for a house. The fact that you don't tend to build houses on steep angles doesn't quite check out - not unlike his story that he never had a previous Hx account - and regardless his lava flowed right off the cliff taking myself and Graham quite a while to properly clean up. Apple did his bit to make amends by making a tower of sand around the lava and calling it a slide.

To anyone who thought we might be in luck with getting fire and TNT back - you know who to thank for it not happening.

It seems that all Apple does on the server is annoy and disrupt.

As you people may or may not be aware, the area to which I walked was chosen as a stop point because much of the surrounding landscape was in my eyes fantastic as it stood with potential for some picturesque modifications and additions such as the large forest I planted, the mountain gates I built/sculpted and some work on the cliffs to make a cove area. Obviously, with any large project such as this I was happy to have it far far away from the main building areas in order to keep it somewhat secluded and not have views obstructed by hundreds of ugly lava rivers and glass huts that people seem to like.

Imagine then my delight when apple logged in, immediately tp'd to me in this area and began a wide lava flow down a hillside "miles away from anything" (ie; about 50 steps from a tower and still right on the cliffside) claiming that he was simply trying to set fire to trees (the first of which was quite a way down said hillside) to clear space for a house. The fact that you don't tend to build houses on steep angles doesn't quite check out - not unlike his story that he never had a previous Hx account - and regardless his lava flowed right off the cliff taking myself and Graham quite a while to properly clean up. Apple did his bit to make amends by making a tower of sand around the lava and calling it a slide.

To anyone who thought we might be in luck with getting fire and TNT back - you know who to thank for it not happening.

This is absolutely outrageous, here's my side of the story...


After searching high and low for a nice piece of landscape, travelling by means of foot, boat and swimming, I finally came across a beautiful piece of land. Got my hands straight in and began building my palace. As if I didn't have enough on my plate I then see "TomFantastic has just logged in", then it was just the case of hoping he didn't teleport to me and find my hard earned piece of beautiful landscape. But it was too late, he had already teleported to me and headed off behind me on some kind of mission. Knowing the type of guy he is, I knew that I couldn't leave him unattended on my land. I was running as fast as my little square legs could carry me, but then I saw it... First the dirty fumes that were soon followed by the bright glaze of fire. As I got closer I could see that there was also lava, a huge landslide of it actually. I ran straight over to it so I could promptly begin putting a stop to the flow of it. This is when Tom (FlyingJesus) stepped back and took the pic, making it look as if I had created this mess.

Not going to lie lol. What actually happened was, I teleported to flicker to see how his house was going. He was stood there with Tom in the middle of nowhere so I thought I'd go off and clear some land for my house. I went miles away from them and began chopping the trees, that's when I realised it would be miles faster to just burn them down. So I cancelled out all the risks of it spreading and put some lava there. It did the job fast and then I started to clear it up. Tom or Flicker had put stone down in the fire after I had already blocked it off so it took me ages to mine it all away. Whereas with the sand I had put down I could clear within half a second. Don't know what he's moaning about now, I cleared it all up and planted new trees to make it look untouched. It's in the middle of nowhere and stuto has already said that it's too far out to be saved.

You covered and cleared a small bit of the flow down the hillside (but as I said Graham did most of that) and NONE of the stuff that had spilled down the cliff and into the sea, which you clearly didn't even notice had happened as you still seem unaware that it had been there or that it took us a long time to not only cover, clear, and rebuild the cliff but mine out the cobblestone and obsidian that had formed in the sea and then restore it properly to not have mini currents everywhere.

Regardless of what Dan thinks about it being too far out to save (which wasn't even mentioned until long after this so you can't use it as a defence) you are well known for griefing on this server, and have proved yourself far too clumsy and useless to have building abilities and still keep the good users safe.

I got accused of griefing before but after checking the logs it was very clear that it was RyanBurgess. I have never griefed on this server, all I have ever been known to do is place water in things (refer to flickers steps lol) but he found it funny and all I had to do was remove 2 blocks which stopped the flow. That again was harmless fun. Don't really want to be arguing with you, you seem like a fun type of guy, fine if you don't like me but please just try to lighten up. You should check out the house thing I built next to flickers, I think even cecer approves of it so my building skills can't be that bad. :P

Then I apologize for not seeing to the lava that had gone into the sea, I was not aware of that as I was going full at it trying to clear the other side up.

The "weird lumpy thing made of brick" is nowhere near finished yet, the brick is merely the structure of it. I have plans of using wool or perhaps tree trunk for the final layer but first I need to finish the structure of it. So don't worry, it will be looking a tad bit more austhetic when it is complete. :P

I haven't changed my story! The first paragraph was a bit of fun, I then edited it with what actually happened as I decided waiting to see Tom's reaction to it probably wasn't such a good idea lol.

Your building has been moved south of spawn, it now has its own little island. The other buildings there weren't more than about 10 blocks so weren't worth saving.

The map is currently being pruned, the server should be up again shortly.

Imho the landscape wasn't the best i've found in minecraft, I agree it looks good but I can guarantee you'll always eventually find something like that on every map.

imho most if not all of the buildings on the server are horrific and can be found on any map but I don't ask for them to be deleted.

New server with VPS on its way soon anyway as previously stated, so won't really matter in the long run

Er what? My server gives no error message like this even for guests. Make sure you're using a paid-account and running the latest version of minecraft.

Doing /ff will toggle Fire Fighter mode.

Graham (flicker) was pissing me off. He planted as many trees as possible around the outside of my house so you couldn't see it anymore, he then put loads of mud INSIDE my house followed by trees on top so my house was full of trees, he then put a massive pile of lava into my swimming pool which Cecer had to help clean up, after that with the help of tom (tomfantastic) they put loads more trees into my swimming pool and built a wooden shelter over it. Stuto said that he couldn't get the logs to find out who did it all so it will just have to to unnoticed... So then to top it all off, tom and graham built a pyramid of glass directly above my house then loaded it with lava, resulting in 4 seperate lava flows landing directly onto my house which then set all the trees on fire, yet again nobody was punished. So I just thought **** this I'm burning his house down. :)
