View Full Version : Habbox Donation etc

Just wondered, based on the 'Donations thread', what DOES actually happen to donations.

I think if a large donation is made it would be courtesy to contact the person who donated it what it actually goes towards.

For example:

James/jrh2002 - 10000 credits
MissAlice - 500 credits and hc's or something
More of us have donated thrones etc.

It just seems at the moment, it is all very friendly when you donate, lot's of thank you's. But after a day it goes ignored, so you never actually know if your donation has been used like it was going to be..

So I think a private message or something would be adequate just to alert the person that their donation has been used properly?

Thoughts?

I know we used to have to put like 'Prize supplied by jrh2002' on an announcment event thread sometimes :P But yeah I agree it would be nice to know what happens with all the donations!

I agree with this, we donate then we get a colored username! That's ok I suppose, but I think a PM saying Thanks for your Donation, it has been put to good use and we are going to do these things with it would make donators feel 'special' in a way.

Even then though, as an example james might not realise this has happened - just because some of us donate, doesn't mean we read every announcement haha. I mean I am not saying donators deserve a round of applause - a personal PM would not go a miss though.

I think he means Habbo furni donations :P

@Milestone yeh I know what you mean but tbh I think it's very rare that donations are used other than like HxSS and in the competitions department.

Well then a PM would be even better ;) I think it's quite rude that you donate, offering to help hx out - then they just sit in someones room for a year (which is why most of us donate last amounts, to put them to use!)

The problem is that it's very difficult to keep track of individual items and stuff, so it's hard to say x came from x. RE: the previous thread we are looking at radically changing the way donations are handled so as to improve management access to donations and so we have an easy to access inventory of current items that Habbox has at its disposal. In order to do this successfully we aim to centrally locate the donations on one Habbo account accessible only by a select one or two people. By having the furni centrally located it makes it very difficult for us to identify what furni came from what person. Imagine that you donated 1000 credits, and then dinasaw donated 500, and then bob donated 2000. Those credits get lumped into a room and then we give away 300. Were they your credits we just gave away? Or another persons?

Nevertheless we are looking to improve recognition of those who donate and, with this, we could perhaps try (in some circumstances at least) to let those individuals know where their furni went and what it did, but this isn't always feasible.

Oh and they don't just sit in a room doing nothing, they all get used in one form or another.

Put relatively big donations in different rooms? Then in the description state who donated it? I am not attacking you for what you have said, just trying to give a hand in a way to improve it.

And the problem is, once we have donated for all we know they could just get sold for cash and pocketed. I am not saying you do this, as I believe you all have a lot more self-respect than that - but those of us who have donated don't actually have any idea about it either way.

I really appreciate your post, stating you are looking to improve the system though. +Rep

EDIT: Can't rep atm :(

What about having a award to recognise people who donate a huge amount of furni/credits (if there isn't one already)?

The problem with this, is people who donate x amount would moan saying they did donate a lot. Since 5hc to some people is loads, just like to a lot of users 1t is like having 5hc. I think it would be rude to draw the line in who get's the award sadly - whereas a friendly PM would be much more personal, and habbox management could make the decision who to send the PM to.

Agreed with this really, more on the wealthfare of them rather than Habbox. 5hc might be 50% of what they've got but 1 throne may be 0.01% to someone else. I think a PM would be fairer because their donation has done a lot for the site, for example.

See this is where the Newsletter would come in handy. A monthly report on what was donated and how it was used.

Hx don't seem to want to do an emailed newsletter (which imo they should). And their attempt was silly imo, as it was more of a 200000 page book - a newsletter would be good, but after the essay one it was seen as a failure - although I am not surprised!

I see where you'e coming from and I think it's a pretty good idea to send out friendly PMs :)

The one Matt G wrote wasn't really a 20,000 page book, it was very brief but also very boring. I thought the structure of it was rather poor and I personally didn't want to know about Staff Promotions, in all honesty. :P

Oh I know it wasn't - not sure how many pages it was. I just remember it being really boring - a short email like yo get from sites like 'ebuyer' (not as regularly hough please :P) with things going on - members that have left may even come back if we have a big event taking place to check it out.

There should be a more "colourful" interesting newsletter with an overview of what's happened in the whole month then, obviously it will take time to put together and all the managers get to contribute with an article or whatever.

Yeh a colourful, not very big newsletter would be good.

Although I still would prefer for a friendly private message - I sometimes ask for my donations to not be made public too much.

No.
Donations should be given out of the goodness of one's heart (oh how poetic of me) and not for the sole reason of expecting something in return.

To be fair though, I'd much rather have a personal PM (none of the generic crap) from management than an award :)

Inseriousity.

I suggested this once and got shot down for 'security reasons' so Im glad to see common sense prevail :D
Anyway yeah, the system is currently flawed in my opinion. Donations used to be better recorded imo but as donations started going upwards to AGMs rather than the dept manager, I just moved the thread (the comps donation one). A PM would be good and when reading this post, I had the same thought as Milestone although I also think this could get a bit too much hassle!
