Got my blackberry yesterday and was wondering how long 1GB of mobile internet would last me if I was using it for 30/40 minutes per day.

90% of the time it'll just be for the Facebook app and the rest of the time checking emails etc.

Can anyone give me a rough guide?

You'll be fine. 1GB is pretty standard for mobile data.

I use my 1gig quite heavily, tethering to laptop in media as well as in periods between lessons and I've never gone over my limit, so just checking facebook and emails wouldn't use hardly any at all :)

1GB should be alright, but it depends on what network you're with.

If you're with T-Mobile, they don't "cap" your internet, they'll just slow you down so you'll never pay for more internet usage, just get slower internet.

That's quite a lot. I get 500MB with mine, and have on;y gone over it once.

Don't worry about it you'll get plenty of texts warning you when you're coming up to your limit anyway. Vodafone sent me about four when I reached my 500MB limit, I used my phone to tether to about 7 iPod Touch's at lunch every day :P

I only get 350MB a month and I don't go over that! :)

If you just use Web apps like Facebook or Twitter on your phone then you wouldn't even use ~250MB.
Your bandwidth only starts being chomped up if you watch YouTube videos or downloading MP3s.
Also, if you're on O2, they offer you a free Data Usage tracker on your My O2 account, so you can monitor how much you're using.
