View Full Version : Are you more likely?

I think that the thread is suited here, if not feel free to move it.
Well basically, are you more likely to answer a thread on the forum if the user offers some kind of reward like Rep?
I for one, are partial to a bit of rep, but I wouldn't answer a thread just for the rep. I aim to help people on the forum, and I would answer a thread regardless.
my motto on this is, if I can answer it I will, if it has rep and I get repped, it's a bonus.
Thoughts?

If i'm like 20 or so points away from a new green block or even better another rep point! Then i will literally hunt down the answer to the thread just for the rep.

Most of the time - no, the offered reputation will not effect my decision to reply. However if I am aware that I'm just a few points away from my next green block then why not? xD

Not really bothered. I like the suprise of getting rep for random posts that others have liked rather than aiming for it :)
When I was new yeah I used to post in almost every thread I saw which was offering +rep, although rep doesn't bother me much now so if someone was offering +rep it wouldn't encourage me to reply any more than if they weren't.

I really don't mind if they offer a reward or if they don't, I just try to help them the best I can.
I usually try to reply and help as many people as possible, if it comes with added rep then thats nice... so yeh i try to help as many people as possible who needs it.

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
To answer the question: no because it usually means I have to do something

Nope, rep means nothing to me and people who use rep as a reason to reply/post are probably the people who should be blamed for the lack of interesting discussions.

I answer to help people, not to gain rep.
nope, only really post in threads that interest me.

whats so interesting about this
never thought about that actually, it's fairly uninteresting.
i suppose i just post randomly then.
Inseriousity.

No because it really depends on what the help is. If it's advice to a problem I don't really know the answer to, I wouldn't answer just because I want the rep.
However, I do those 'vote me for rep' things that pop up every now and again if it's not too much hassle. :D

I enjoy posting & letting out my feelings/opinions, but I do like some +rep once in a while :)

Absolutely not. That's incredibly pointless and the first purpose of a forum in my opinion is for discussion, without being motivated by the pursuit of your own virtual interest.
I think that reputation is a great incentive for posting, although personally I don't really care if I get reputation or not, whilst others probably will.
if i stumble accross a post not already answered i answer it. rep or no rep, i like to share my knowledge with those otherwise not as informed
