Go on then, explain.
Well if Fergie n Rooney have had a big bust up then personally i can see Rooney going ... just look at the RV Nistlerooy & D Beckham situations; they were sold in the next transfer window.
I think if Rooney did leave then im sure Fergie will get another quality striker in who is just as good / better than Rooney.
I think that the Liverpool ship will sink first as they are in deep trouble, even though they've just been bought out they are still no guarantees that they will have any money to spend and I personally think that Roy Hodgson is not the right man for the job.
I have no idea about the City situation tho - so sorry on that point.

Manchester City may feel they have an outside chance of capitalising on what has gone wrong for him at Old Trafford, although their chances are undermined by the fact they already have a huge task ahead of them bringing down their wages to prevent Uefa banning them from European competitions under financial fair-play rules.

I read good papers.
Oh yeh i forgot about that... Uefa are considering banning teams playing in Europe if they have massive debts to pay off

Media speculation? Since when have Wayne Rooney, Ferguson and Gill been reporters? Rooney stated he doesn't have an ankle injury and doesn't know where the manager got that from. Ferguson and Gill then ban journalists asking about Rooney, bizarre. It's not a new thing, Ferguson falling out with players. Look at Beckham, Keane and Horse Face, it can happen and not just with the fringe players. Wayne Rooney is now refusing to extend his 18 month contract, not long till he can leave on a free.
As for the European football I believe you mean the rules which would have a loop hole. It's UEFA, they'll be ways around. From the top of my head what's to stop the Sheikh setting up a separate company and putting money into that, 'selling' the club to that company which would then wash away any debt. I'm not a lawyer paid by a billionaire though so I wouldn't know, I'll leave the hole picking to the big boys.
As for 'Deak', who would you buy? Not many top strikers in the same mould of Rooney. You could argue Rooney but at the same time he's not a 'Rooney' type player, more of a Berbaflop. Also what's stopping the banks or Glazer taking the money like they did with the Ronaldo deal. If the banks see a big fee coming in and they're owed money they'll want a chunk of that.
I'm sure that if Rooney did leave Fergie would know what to do & besides he's got some good youngsters coming through too in Hernandez, Machaeda etc etc obviously they aren't in the same category as Rooney...
And on your comment about Berbaflop - i agree

Ferguson wanted those other players to go. You forget that. Rooney has been horribly out of form for 7 months. He's still undoubtedly a world class player. Until he says himself he wants to leave - it is media speculation. Has he said it? We don't know. That's where the term speculation originates from. It's all talk. Whether it is true or not - we can't assess. We can give those examples you've given in the paragraph I quoted and contrast them with the fact Rooney has publically (this whole argument hangs on that word) said he wants to play for United until he retires. Lets wait for something official. I've also seen papers say that City are going to sign Torres and Inter Milan will sign Messi in the last week.

i dont see why he would leave. he came out of the tunnel with smiles before kick off against West Brom. The media just want to get attention. This is a load of horse poop because I do not recall Rooney wanting to leave. I love how the odds appear aswel, he's favourite to join City? I dont have a good feeling that will happen...

p.s. i won't be surprised if he left and it wouldn't be awful for united. ronaldo was a better player and they've done OK - admittedly not as good. i think fergie would invest if rooney was sold. wouldn't even be surprised if fergie let the contract expire and resire at the end of that season too - 2011-12.

Wrong on both counts. They have people to replace him and they wouldn't have to pay the debt with any transfer money.

now we can believe it. either way manchester united is the biggest footballing brand in the world and will continue to be with or without rooney. no player is bigger than the club. SAF seems genuinely hurt by this and the fans will almost undoubtedly turn on rooney. not because he wants to leave but because how he has treated the greatest footballing man alive.

The goals of the media are to 'put down' any club daring to come close to Manchester United and the 'great' Sir Alex. Look at Rooney, before this they would show clips of him scoring, he would be branded the white Pele etc. Now? Well all they're showing is him being injured and missing sitters. They're scared of upsetting Sir Alex. What's the old saying? No smoke without fire?
Jake, a Manchester United fan today admitted Manchester United need the money more than we (Manchester City) need Rooney. Yes he's putting the gloss on it like you're doing saying you'll purchase Torres or whoever however he realises that this isn't media work, this is real. A Manchester United season ticket holder, home and away fan. I saw his face today when I said "admit it, you need the money more than we need the player". He was generally hurt. This is going to be a long road however it's football, it wouldn't surprise me to see him sign a new five year deal at Manchester United tomorrow, nor would it surprise me to see him leave Manchester United for Manchester City. It's football.

Sir Alex is the greatest manager that has lived. I'm not saying he doesn't have huge influence, rightly or wrong - he does. I think Rooney has made the wrong decision here and why he has done it I do not know. However, he betrayed his boyhood club, his wife and now the team that as SAF put it has "done nothing but help him". SAF looked emotional and he is one of the most hard nosed people around. Ronaldo was better than Rooney though, that has to be remembered. United have invested in youth - there would be no point if they never broke though. Say the money they get for Rooney merely aids the financial burden of the club it wouldn't be the end of United as you seem to think/dream. I'd prefer Rooney to stay in the PL, as a neutral, just for the abuse. It'll be funny.

Either way I'm just sitting back and watching it go over, it's like a big industrial firework. First Manchester United were bought by Glazer (the light of the fuse), then Manchester City got bought the good Sheikh (the whiz into the air) then Debt/Ronaldo/Rooney occur (the explosion) then Manchester City start winning things, signing players such as Silva/Tevez (the pretty bit in the sky).
I'm just laughing at this Rooney business. If he signs for us he signs, if not it's been a laugh.
immense
19-10-2010, 02:10 PM
SAF said that all he asked of Rooney was for him "to respect the great traditions of the club" and spoke about how Rooney himself spoke about his ankle injury with SSN. Fergie is very clever, every United fan who sees this interview will find it hard not be with SAF.

A sad day for our club, we will never be able to replace Rooney and Ronaldo. Two fantastic players who should still be at our club but greed has drove them away from our great club. On the bright side Rooney has already peaked for us and with the amount of money being thrown about for top players we should get a big amount for him still even though he only has 18 months left on his contract. I'd hate to see him play for Citeh though, it will just show how much of a money grabbing *REMOVED* he is, the only reason he would go there is for the money because he aint going to win trophies there

I don't think a club like us or Liverpool will end up like Chester. The only way is down for both clubs now though. We can't compete with the biggest clubs in Europe anymore, we can't bring in world class players and offer them high wages. The next few seasons are going to be *REMOVED* for us

I think I read somewhere Barcelona were trying to cut back on expense - not sure if it's true. Madrid would be very likely and to be honest. If they put in a midfielder and an attacker (they have endless options) as well as some money I think Fergie would accept and it wouldn't be too bad for United either. You could argue that if they're not good enough for Madrid then United wouldn't want them but look at people like Van Der Vaart (think that's the spelling) and Sneijder and numerous others who have played much better once leaving Madrid and are seen as some of the best players in the world.

True, they will probably like you said give a midfielder and a striker + money depending on the players.
Some players have got better especially Van Der Vaart who has been playing brilliant up to now at Tottenham.

I think United could potentially be better off with that. This season, without Rooney really they've had no issues scoring, it's been the defence. The defence is fine I reckon, it's the heart of midfield where they struggle. Diarra could see to that.

I think this would be a good deal too as Diarra is a good holding midfielder and Benzema is also a decent striker who fergie could possibly make a better player + the cash could be used for another player.

Rooney > Man City, done deal.
You don't say you're going to leave arguably the biggest club in the WORLD and the best contract offer available without having a club already lined up.
City won't sign him with the trouble we already have with uefa about players fees, the only way I could see it happening is with a swap for someone and money.

He's had one good season and most of those goals came against Hull (4), Burnley (3) and other lower teams (something like 11 against the bottom 5). I think any City fan should want him. Not even because they like him but because
a) it shows united's best player is willing to jump ships
b) it would help them attract other stars. i think rooney is a different league to current city players. maybe it's media portrayal but he's seen as being 'up there' with ronnie & messi.
c) there was a c but i have forgotten

It's funny because it's Manchester United fans getting wound up over the 'White Pele'. I personally am just sitting back and laughing at this deal, joining in with the club coursing as much havoc as we can to those over at the swamp. If we sign him, great, if not we'll move on. Personally I'm not too sure on him considering he's only had one stand out season but we'll see.
You think that last line gets to me? I'm seventeen, almost eighteen. You seriously believe I could care about how many trophies you've won? I've gone seventeen years without seeing a trophy, you get used to it. Well actually you wont be getting maximum considering the player has stated that he wishes to leave and he has 18 months on his contract...

This why you know jack **** about football.
Rooney > Man City, done deal.
You don't say you're going to leave arguably the biggest club in the WORLD and the best contract offer available without having a club already lined up.
If City want to play European football they're gunna have to think twice, UEFA are already telling them to cut back on wages, and Rooney will add £200k to them :/
Rooney will go to Madrid probably.
And btw, the biggest (and most successful) clubs in the world are in this order...
1. Real Madrid
2. Barcelona
3. Liverpool - yes ok we're not exactly top of the prem atm, but still most successful British team ever.

Sorry, did you make that list up in your head? Or did you pluck it from the clouds? Biggest clubs =
Real Madrid
United
Barcelona
Chelsea
Arsenal
Bayern
I think even Newcastle are above Liverpool.
And please, could you really imagine Rooney, the chav that he is, living in Spain? It aint happening.
Man City have unlimited funding, they will always find loop holes through the rules which Uefa sanction upon them.
As I write this, the bookies have stopped taking bets on ROONEY STAYING. Interesting. Maybe the Glazers are gonna put their hands in their pockets and buy some players (which is the ambition that Rooney was looking for)?

So Rooney is staying, I'd rather he had left to be honest after all this.
But at least Spuds and all City fans look like idiots now.

funniest was people saying a deal was already agreed. anyway, maybe it was just a ploy to get his assurances that backfired.

Happy to hear that he's staying. His form has been shocking for a while now so hopefully he gets back on top of it.
I thought he would end up stayin at Old Trafford... I bet all of the Manchester United fans / staff are happy now that the Rooney saga is over and now can concentrate on the game this weekend.

Not sure you understand the phrase agreed deal.

Could be an interesting summer. The club can command a bigger fee.
@Stefanwolves, Clowgon isn't back.
immense
22-10-2010, 02:58 PM
yeah. could be that and rooney and united have agreed to let him go in the summer but now united can charge 50mil+ or something
orrrr seeing as the owners got involved they might have promised investment in the side but even fergie himself said there would be investment when giggs/scholes retire

Rooney could have had a deal with another club? Either verbally, handshake etc. Obviously this wouldn't be legal as it's 'tapping up' and a deal/fee would have to be agreed with United obviously.
I think you misunderstood what I said.

Erm Hello. I am a blue and not once said Rooney is going to come to us, nor wanted him. He'd never perform here.
And i'm glad he's stayed, he's past his prime reckon, he's not gonna get any better, plus any money that doesn't go towards United hilariously growing debt is great (Y)

Looks like the Glazers have promised to add £50m to their debt to keep him for another 5 years then. Good negotiation tactics from Rooney.
I'm suprised Fergie has accepted him back, he's normally quite stubborn when it comes to how his players 'treat' the club... Staam, Beckham, RVD etc

I said biggest as well as most successful...Man U are probably bigger than Liverpool, but nowhere near as successful, Arsenal are tiny, Bayern are tiny, Chelsea have only become big in the last 6 years so yh...
And no1 expected Beckham to go to Spain js.
Edit: Lmfao he stayed anyway :L fail.
