For the server I would like to just get an idea of what type of funding from donations we would be able to be supported with.
Please reply with
Amount (Definate):
Amount (Possible):
Monthly: Yes/No
Ability to contribute: Long term/Short term
Many people have shown an interest in contributing to the funding of a vps, but this can't go ahead until a more reliable figure is calculated.
Amount (Definate): £1
Amount (Possibly): £2
Monthly: Yes
Ability to contribute: Long Term

So £2/m definate so far, this isn't going to be enough.
Amount (Definate): £5
Amount (Possible): £5
Monthly: Yes
Ability to contribute: Long term "aslong as im still playing minecraft"
It all depends on how it is going to be run. If the server continues like it is now, I probably won't donate anything. I was interested but now I'm hesitant.
Im guessing rules will be stricter then.
i would donate more, but money is tight and £1 is all i can achieve at the moment

So £7 so far, another £5 and this will start to look more do-able.
£2 monthly for as long as I actively play minecraft.
This is going to need around £20 per month for something decent.

I'm speaking with a friend and we're considering splitting the cost of a dedicated server.

OK. A price for a shared dedicated server has been quoted.
The funding we will need to pay towards it is £15 a month. If everyone pays just a little this should not be a problem. The server will be shared with another minecraft server (don't worry there will be enough RAM).
I'll add a donate button in one of the next posts when we're ready to purchase.
Details?
Datacentre, specs etc.

Right now we're looking at something from OVH, we really don't wanna end up paying loads for this.
We were thinking their RPS III package seeing as both MC servers are relatively low in terms of player numbers.

Suspected it might be. Just FYI, you need to pay a £50 setup fee at OVH and all prices (including the setup fee) are exclusive of VAT. I know this because I have a dedicated server with OVH (kimsufi.co.uk) and I'm fairly active on the OVH forum :).
I can help with running with this server if need be.

Ye, sometimes smallprint is a real pisstake.
If you take a look at the lowest Kimsufi server http://www.kimsufi.co.uk/ks/
I might be able to pick one up without a setup fee from someone who's wanting to drop one.
Another potential issue is that OVH don't take Paypal BTW.

I was looking at that one but hadn't heard great things about Kimsufi (I know they're owned by OVH et all)

It's is OVH. Just their "budget" range.

Well, if he doesn't want it anymore and it'd save us the setup fee, sure.

Ok, but who's paying? Would have to be transferred to an existing OVH account and OVH don't take Paypal BTW.

It'll probably be me, and payment won't be a problem. We'll sort it tomorrow when Dan comes online again.

Right i'm now accepting donations for a dedicated server. I'll update the amount every day during the first week. It may take an extra week before the server can be moved to the dedicated one.

The BBCode/Text editor is being stupid and not letting me have a linked image.
Please leave your hxf username AND minecraft username when donating!!!

It would be so helpful if you guys could help out, and we could keep the server up 24/7 and add some cool new stuff like daily automatic cartographs :)
