Yeah probably a just a high motbolism (or however you spell). I'd consider yourself quite luck to be honest. I wish I was in that case lol. But yeah, don't think just because this happens you shouldn't still be eating disgracfully. Exact same thing happens with my friend. Eats loads, stays ridicualasly skinny, had a pain in his side, went to the doctors, rushed to hospital because his appendix ould have burst ithin the nxt few days.

Most likely, it is indeed your metabolism. If you're active and you eat a balanced diet with a variety of foods, you're keeping your metabolism high. Don't think of this as bad though! A high metabolic rate is what you should strive for.

If you want to gain a couple pounds, it's best done by obtaining muscle as opposed to fat. Increase your protein intake (I've heard of people consuming up to 1 gram of protein per pound in weight, but I think this is rather excessive) and drink water so your body can absorb the proteins. Also, if you are indeed active (perhaps cardiovascular activities?), look into weight lifting. Tearing the muscle to create new muscle requires protein to build the muscle and water to repair the muscles.

By all means, continue your diet. If it's healthy, you should continue it without question. However, add in foods that are rich in protein, such as eggs, fish and chicken breast. And in terms of eating: Eat throughout the day. Six small meals per day will help you gain weight better than three large meals. Eat breakfast when you wake up, a snack between breakfast and lunch, followed by your lunch, another snack between lunch and dinner, then dinner and finally a snack right before bed.

Hopefully this helps you gain a little weight. :)

do you exercise? i got heavier, not fatter, when i started exercising more...
i second the 5-6 meals that he ^ said. little but often.

Errr eating lots of little meals is actually a method that people use to LOSE weight, it doesn't work but yeah it's definitely not a weight gain plan. The only reason it would work is because it's easier to eat more that way, but he's already said he eats lots so it's not like he's thin as a result of starving.

That said, as far as I recall you're like 8 feet tall or something so all that RDA nonsense needs to be upped a bit anyway just to attribute for that - eating the same amount as is recommended for someone of my size isn't gonna do the trick for you

Haven't really read the replies. But Jake I'm like you with the metabollism rate. I'm 16 and weight under 7 stone so my BMI is classed as underweight. I eat like a pig, if I could I would at like 10 packets of crisps a day, I would each chips and eggs every second.

Anyway, agreeing with jen, my sister started putting on weight when she exercised, but is now balancing out.

Also, what i dounf jake, eating junk food and then just being on a pc/laptop/mac doesn't do anything, it made me put on 1 pound if that, maybe if you don't expect weight to come on then it may?

Also, you may start gaining it when you are older.

Wouldn't that be just the muscle making you way more?

Still need to be careful what you eat when you have high metabolism because once you lose it (if you lose it) then you're gonna blow up like a wild snorlax in seconds

So many skinny people say "I eat loads but I never put on any weight" but in actual fact you just think you are eating loads but aren't. Try spending a day eating as you normally would but count the calories of everything you eat, you might be shocked (well at least I was).

Because it's good to have a bit of meat on you.

I was just trying to prove a point. Having a bit of weight on you is better than being skin and bone. I'm not talking loads of weight, so you are still slim (NOT fat).

I eat a lot and i'm very skinny, although since holiday i've cut down (for some reason i've been put off food, and i've been worried about what i'm eating) - it's just the metabolism we have, personally I think its great.
