Hey everyone. I just joined up so I could tryout for DJ, but I wanted to get acquainted with the forums as well. My question is, who here listens to metal/hardcore music? Examples include bands from Alesana to Whitechapel. Reply with some of your favorite bands of this genre. :D

Metal, yup. I've always thought it'd be good for there to be a show for metal to be played on, so I wish you good luck in your application mate :)
Some of my favourite metal(core) bands:
Whitechapel
Bullet for my Valentine
Suicide Silence
Heaven Shall Burn
Killswitch Engage
Atreyu
Parkway Drive
Five Finger Death Punch
Darkest Hour
Good luck mate!

The majority of my music taste is metalcore and hardcore. It's nice to see other people on here with the same sort of taste haha. I don't think you'll be able to get a show on Habbox Live playing it though, coz I'm not sure they allow swearing, even after a certain time, and obviously a lot of heavy music has swearing in ha. It'll be nice to try though.

I think the problem with that is the fact that because of the merge, Habbox has more visitors from different time zones, so you're late night might be someone else's early morning, but it's still on the same website, if you get me. But I hope you get a show anyway
Chaos-Sniper
23-10-2010, 02:03 AM
I'm gonna hope for the timeslot and then figure out what to play. But I'm sure they can't hate me for playing something like WCAR, which has positive lyrics and a mix of screams and clean vocals. It's still music, just a different form.

Not really, they're one of those bands that you get away telling thick people they're hardcore, but if you said they were hardcore to an actual fan, they'd probably mutilate your face with a spanner

Its good to have different shows on habbox but I can guarantee you allot of people will hate you because of the music you play 'cause they are used to cheryl cole and crap.

Their loss for not being open-minded. ;)

This, especially with hardcore as it's not the most 'accessible' genre of music
Chaos-Sniper
23-10-2010, 07:42 PM
It's preference if you don't like it. It's open minded if you hate people who listen to it because they listen to it.
EDIT: I'm not trying to argue about how awesome I think hardcore is. I'm just trying to gain leverage in gaining some sort of airtime. If they choose to not allow any of my music (Even pop-punk ADTR) then it was never met to happen. Other than that, let's steer away from my DJ hopes and back onto the genre discussion. :)

It's not that you're not hardcore, it's just the bands you like wouldn't be described with the term 'hardcore'. Nothing against you or the bands you like by the way, music is music. :D

Alesana is a great band, I've seen them live and met Shawn during The Emptiness Tour. August Burns Red is a god amongst metalcore. White Washed = My anthem :D
i swear to god, all these 'hardcore' bands people are naming are bands i used to listen to when i was 14 and decided i was too cool for emo, so i banged on abit of alesana.
;l i thought hardcore was like real ****, these bands sound like *REMOVED*

That's because people use the same term "hardcore" for hardcore metal and hardcore punk, which are completely different albeit both really boring in my opinion, but yeah it leads to the metallers shaking their greasy locks in disgust when Black Flag are called hardcore, while fat kids with daddy issues and big boots (jk that stereotype applies to both sides) wouldn't dream of calling someone like idk Atreyu or something hardcore

No, every band she listed was a metalcore band. There are distinct differences between hardcore and metalcore, and if you can't tell those differences then you can't call yourself a fan of either.

OM&M isn't metalcore. And don't assume I'm not a fan of hardcore or metalcore. We could easy escalate this to Suicide Silence and Whitechapel, if that's what you want. Those our two of my favorite bands.

oh i agree, but with this sort of music, and the percieved view of metalcore, it's always nice to know the lines where hardcore ends and metalcore begins. its like if someone called grime and rap the same thing, there'd be hell to pay from fans of either genre.

I'm a rap fan and I accept grime as a form of rap despite not liking any of it because I know that that's what it is, it really does seem to just be the various made up genres of metal music that anyone gets stains in their pants from talking about
