On the rs forums, threads like this always get posted in by people worth billions that say phats will never crash. But it's those sort of people who have bought them out resulting in a continuous rise. So what do you think? Personally I hope that they do crash, nothing lasts forever and one day the merchers/hoarders will probably sell them off and move onto something else. If they carry on like this I will never get to own one which would be a shame. :/
Unless they're realised again. I doubt they'll crash to under something like 50m

All I would say is, "Doing Buy A Party Hat" there is word going around that they are going to release them again. Which will be a very very big drop.

I wasn't thinking as low as 50m lol! Maybe purple down to 200 again, that sort of price as opposed to a 500m ge value and billion+ street.
Or just for them to stop rising really.
Well back when I played they were under 200m, so it's likely that *SOMETIME* in the future they will. Especially if they unban the people who did the partyhat duplication glitch.

if they never release them again, then obviously they're just gonna rise and rise.
I doubt they will release them again aswell, because of the uproar it would cause.

They will never crash as the game is now. As less and less are in the game then it's obvious there will be more demand for the little amount in the game. If you look back to say 2005 and the prices there to the price now.
My view is that the phats are at that high price due to how easy it is to earn money in the game. The likes of bossing, all based on luck of the drop yes, means that if you got a, say arma hilt, then you would be half way to a purple back in 2005.
jagex will not drop partyhats again. they stopped tradeable item drops around 2003-4 because they saw it unfair for newer users as the older members already had a substantial amount just from selling holiday items. I was pretty disappointed when I only got a yoyo for xmas 2004 but hey ho. money is being made easier and easier to gain and with the average rs level being 115 there is no shortage of it. Partyhats will continue to rise into the billions, as will masks, discs of returning, pumpkins and easter eggs.

simple answer for all holiday items (masks, santas, partyhats, pumpkins, returning disk, red wine etc):
no.
as years go on there will be less and less meaning higher demand so ovb going to go up :)

I actually bought a santa this morning. It made me angry though because I remember buying and selling various santas when they were only about 20m. And there I am paying such an inflated price not so long after.

They will never crash unless Jagex re-release them, which will never happen.
And if they did crash/were affordable, you wouldn't want one anyway.

They'll never crash - too much money has entered the game from pvp drops, 76king etc.

Not any time soon; it's too rare and usually in demand. Like previous comments have said, it will only crash if it's re-released

What I mean is, they have street prices of like 1/2 billion. So they are literally impossible to buy for max in the ge, must be less than 5 phats a month or something that actually get sold in the ge. So will they carry on rising forever at the current rate or eventually slow down so they can be bought in the ge again?

Yes, infact I expect that none are sold in the G.E. Whoever does is an idiot. Of course people will try and 'snipe' one, but to be able to attempt to do that you'd need to put an offer in around 5 seconds after the G.E updates.
The street price will fluctuate, but will always maintain to be higher than it's original G.E price, although I expect in years to come the street price will be higher than it is today simply because it will become rarer and the demand will be higher.

Well, the only reason people want them is because they're expensive, if they weren't expensive, they'd be nothing... they give next to no bonuses, if that (I can't remember) it's just an item to symbolize how wealthy you are.

It's just with it being one of the rarest items on rs and the fact that it well never be released again. If I did manage to get one I seriously would never sell it.
Just something to store money in
It's like Habbo IMO when they merged hotels all the prices drops in stuff, it could kinda happen to rs tbh... and if it did players have no right to uproar its a bloody game, tbh i think people that spend to much on a game are sad and should get out into the real world.

Not the fact that it could merge ... i mean the fact prices could crash, you can never say never but most of you lot think to much into runescape if you look at what your saying lol. You all act like its real ;s
I wish it was real, life would be entertaining people killing monsters and questing.
