US version of Skins in the making

Various sites up about it now but yeah basically MTV bought out the broadcasting rights to Skins across the pond and are making a US version. Now I'm not the biggest Skins fan myself, but even I think this is a bad idea. Quite aside from the fact that they quite literally will not be able to cover any of the main things Skins is famous for (sex, drugs, profanity) on American TV there's also the self-crippling decision they've come to of making it the exact same show but with American actors. Yup, same scripts, same stories, same characters, and still there's some guy being all smug about how he's the writer of a new hit show. The huge differences between US and UK teens has apparently somehow escaped everyone involved, so looks like we could be in for a show about teen life that has nothing to do with the lives of the teens it's aimed at, who incidentally won't be able to watch it anyway because if it's made properly it'll carry a 21+ rating in the States.

when I watched the trailer the main thing I noticed was that they made ALL the characters beautiful. like imo the UK skins cast is pretty realistic looks wise, but all the american cast looked super stereotyped and unreasonable beautiful >.<

My reckoning is they turn it into an average american crapfest where one keeps falling in love with the girl, except hes more like "i love her, shes my world" not "i want to bang that", thats simon equivalent. Wills equivalent will get the most stereotypical bulling such as wedgies etc, not being called briefcase ****** and getting a button saying "hello my name is will" and will probably be a ***** and not swear at all. Jays will either be obese or an actual pervert who again *********, except the ********* will be crap. And finally, Neil will just be an average american, completely and utterly ******ed, still.

Yeah but hes not really sentimental about it, tbh he just wants to **** her and, as shown, would go for anyone (that girl he almost had sex with where he whacks his penis, cant remember her name, and there are more instances). I'm talking the american would be like the guy who zac efron played in high school musical.
