People will buy it, they have a lot of clients who are on there 50MB package and that used to be or still is around that price so if they can sell it then why not. UK broadband speeds is crap compared to other countries like Japan and Virgin Media are giving us a step forward, I doubt I will get this when it comes to my area but it's nice to see them bringing it.

I'm still waiting on a 50mb line. I think I'm on a 15mb line, scraping 160kbps at best.
"As you’re not in a fibre optic cable area, you won’t be able to get your hands on up to 100Mb broadband just yet.
But don’t despair, our National broadband service offers the fastest speed we can give you, plus the chance to choose your download size. And it’s super easy to switch too."
as I suspected.

Think I'll be getting this. Good news for the UK. They could push out 200mb if they wanted.

We're supposedly on 20 but struggle to get 10 on some nights. We'll see.

Unlucky. I pay for 20 and get AT LEAST 19.5, sometimes 20.5mb/s
I could recieve 100mb/s if I wanted to pay for it. No ta though; too many pennies. This perfectly stable 20mb/s is plenty at the moment.

ps. If you're not on Virgin's fibre into your house you're technically on BT, bad luck.

My durham postcode doesn't even come up as recognised and my ponteland postcode says nill to cable. Oh the joys. :/

That's lightening fast. I somehow doubt rural Canada will follow suit for quite a number of years :P

Partially true, you are on BTs copper cables, but it'll probably be your ISPs back-end which is more important before speeds of 20mbps.

We can only get one ISP and I really don't see them getting optics for a VERY long time :'(

Why can't they get fibre optic around first, and then introduce 100mb/s. Would probably be easier for them too :\

I am stuck on BT's 20mb/s hitting 5mb if I am lucky.

Sucks to know benefit cheats in the city get it before the taxpayers :P

P.S. I am not saying everyone is a benefit cheat, just pointing out they can get it before others who don't live in city's :L

Not rly.

If they are going to do it everywhere, they would be better just doing it surely?

Mind you I guess it would be easier for them to do it in the future in terms of money

I could get it but won't be. My mum is already on a good plan with o2 and we can't afford Virgin Media.

100mbps would just lead to people doing everything possible on the internet, thus completing the internet and having to trade it in or something due to it not being fun anymore.

Can't say I'm gonna buy into this one, especially as most of the time I'll be needing no more than 5% of it :l

OMG YES!

We're been with Virgin Media for DECADESS, when they were good old NTL and we get 50 meg, XL tv package and unlimited phone package for about 100, so i can see us getting a really good price on this.

100mb download and 10mb upload would be nice, but I don't need it. Seems like a complete waste of money tbh.
