View Full Version : Access to a Registration and Car Make / model database.
Anyone know how or where I can find a database for car registration numbers and make and models similar to those insurance websites that can find your car make and model by what registration it is?

Urm, I don't know if you've heard of this site called google, but if you search with the right terms it gives you answers like:
http://www.businessdata.co.uk/car-check.html
and
http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/
(Or are you coding something which req. an API?)
Urm I don't know if you have heard of reading but none of these links are at all useful to me.
I am looking to get a copy of the database itself as in a local copy of just registration number and car make and model (and maybe colour). I actually need the physical database not an API to someone else's as the program has to access this data whilst offline.

Kind of creepy, but I don't think there is such a thing. I had a look around too and couldn't find much.

I don't think that's possible and it'd probably be a rather big file..
OT: Are you planning to steal cars in order to fund Habbox?
If it for a school / college / uni project just enter aload of dummy data =]

My guess is you'd have to contact the DVLA for it.

This. And I doub't they'd give it out.
My guess would be that all of the sites using it at the moment use some kind of API to the DVLA rather than having a copy for themselves.

I'm not sure what kind of registration data is required, but I bought a database of Makes and Model on the website https://car2db.com
There are a number of engines and markings series cars.
