View Full Version : Do you work out?
I do.
I workout every three days, at home. I bar curl 52.5kg (3 sets of 10 reps). Then bench press 67.5kg (3 sets 10 reps).. on my awful bench press.. I feel like it's going to collapse, really should go the gym would be on 70..+? then finally 2 sets of 10 dips.
I do 10 press ups between exercises, and go on a run before working out.
I also have started doing sit-ups every two days, to get my six pack back.. although there maybe too much fat in the way.
I'm around the 12 and a half stone mark, and I'm 6 foot 2.
Do you workout? What exercises do you do? :)
Callum.

If you want a six pack, cut some weight and start doing cardio. Strengthening your abdominal core will do you no good if you want it to show. Everyone has a six pack, just it is covered by flab.
I workout two days a week. Mon/Thur.
Mon - OHP, Bench, Squat, Weighted Crunches, Plank
Thurs - SL Deadlift, Pulldown, Shrugs, Hammer Curl, Pushdown, L-Fly, Neck Work.
Gym work-out ftw. I only do treadmill and rowing machine..x

I would, but my school gym is rubbish, we have NOTHING except a few exercise bikes, and my mum won't let me join the gym. She says it will put strain on my heart :|
I have an exercise bike in my room which I go on, but I want to be benching & stuff. I can leg press 80kg but I can only bench 25 :L I need to get some upper body strength, my legs are strong from skiing :)
but for some reason I can do like 40-50kg on row machine???

When I wen't to the gym, I was benching 50kg and doing curls etc. but mainly focusing on cardio, and cardio and weight's don't mix too well :l

I don't work out or anything, the exercise I get is from all the football I do. Like Matt said, not looking to put on muscle anyway. Also not sure how much one would normally lift (a bar curl is the long one you use both hands for right?) but 52.5kg is heavier than me, that doesn't sound right lol but I may be wrong, probably quite possible.

No but seriously, how long you been lifting? You taking any supplements? Some guy did one of those pics on his MSN the other day and it was horrendous, he's been lifting longer than I have but doesn't take anything and I swear that was evidence for myself that whey protein/creatine do work even if you're 'still developing'.

Dont take creatine unless you are planning to go into professional bodybuilding. It bloats your muscles with water just to make them look bigger. You shouldn't need supplements if you are eating correctly although the occasional whey shake wont do any harm. People who lift badly and are quite big are probably are above average genetic trainees who are still wasting away on their ****** gains which will gradually cease to exist, lift weights properly with good form and you'll see the true potential for years and years to come and the gains will keep rolling in.

Well actually no, I will take creatine. If the water intake is above average then you're completely safe, just take it in cycles. It'll help with quicker gains, admittedly they'll be a small advantage on the amount you can lift compared to someone who isn't on creatine but it'll still be an advantage. You'll also have more energy in a workout. When you first start it you'll get quick gains which is why it's good to have it over monthly cycles.
As for whey protein, correct about the diet however whey protein has a lot of big advantages. I won't repeat them on here but if you do your research you'll find them. But please, I don't mean to sound like a **** when I say this PaulMacC and I know you probably didn't mean it in a degrading sense when you said don't take creatine but the amount of people I've heard say that in real life in a degrading tone as if they know best is endless. The majority of people don't even do the research. If you're wanting to get the 'big' look whilst gaining actual muscle it can be good to mix creatine in with a sensible diet, a lot of water, other supplements and a good schedule. I believe it was you who made a thread a while ago asking for help as you're skinny and that, you should look into weight gainers. If you're skinny you need the initial fat to turn into muscle.
Now I hope my post didn't come across twatish PaulMacC and I'm sure you didn't mean it in a negative manner, but it does get annoying when you've put research into things before intaking them and yet you still get people talking to you believing they know best when really, perhaps they should focus on their own intakes first.
Last time I weighed myself I was about 12 stone 4.. which was a few months ago so would be about that weight then.
And I agree with Paul, I have taken protein shakes before but stopped after my 5lb tub ran out. I just eat a lot of fish now.

I'd rather eat a few bananas for energy before a workout than ever take creatine. The risks just aren't worth it. Even in moderation you'll eventually screw up sometime with it.

People who are huge, are normally people who have lots of fat + muscle. Pure muscle on its own would be a right challenge.
Majority are mesomorphs as well, as they gain weight and muscle very easily, but very few are skinny like me XD

Creatine is natural, you're just adding to it and in a few months cycle can see a good outcome. If you intake enough water you have no worries.

ahh this reminds me of when my friend invited me to play 5-aside football again. I wasn't used to the constant sprinting around for an hour.
Hockey must be fast paced too, I never was very good at it. I'd swing for the ball and smack it in completely the wrong direction and miss!

His intentions might not be to gain muscle, he may also only be spending short amounts of time in the gym so especially with him focusing on his protein intake he should probably be fine. However if his sessions are long then he possibly could be overdoing it.

I doubt that. Protein isnt just the only thing that makes muscle, you need calories, a lot of them.

You need more calories to get bigger. Calories are essentially energy. Your body needs this energy along with protein to build and repair muscle.

creatine is pointless. you bulk up for as long as the course takes then 2 weeks off it and you'll lose everything it did to you. it's only good for bodybuilding so they look massive for the competitions then they can lose it straight away.

This guy has been strength training since he was 10 and was 12 in this report. So 2 years of intense strength training at an age were he is growing, he is still 5ft 7ins which towers above the average 12 year old. He is also the worlds strongest 12 year old and you can see him on GMTV here:

In that video you see his school friends of the same age come up to his chest... Then the official GMTV Doctor/GP guy says how it is perfectly fine at a young age.

Well you must be going blind. The only way you'll stunt your growth is through injuring your skeletal system which is caused by bad form, which if you have done your research and arent an idiot, shouldnt happen. What difference is weightlifting from football, rugby, hockey or anything else you do that involves moving. You take knocks in football and rugby?

Probably in awful form judging by his form on those curls. He was throwing them and letting momentum do the rest. Good form takes way more effort. Dynamic presses (bar those that specifically need them like professional exercises such as cleans and jerks) and movements do not show control of the weight, you are simply throwing it and letting gravity do the rest.

This actualy reminds me of a guy who used to be in my year lol, himself and his dad were huge!
What size was this guy when he was 10 by the way?
