culture, desire, excitement.

drink to consume, can be enjoyable. as well as that it provokes one of our greatest pleasures. being bad! why would people take drugs? why would people smoke? who would people disregard common opinions? choice. it's all about enjoying yourself and doing something different.

as for those people who actually drink alcohol in moderation (small minority) it's enjoyable in socialising.

Well for a lightweight such as myself, costs about £5 to get to a nice drunk state, and i never get a hangover (even that one time when i drunk too much, but we wont go into that) and i infact feel better in the morning. so not that bad at all.

Tastes nice? Depends on what you drink I guess. If you're forced onto Stella it's not going to taste nice. Boosts confidence, ehh I guess but some people don't need that. Redusces stress? This for real? If it is it'll amuse me considering all the drunken fights you get.

Desire? For what? A horrible taste in the morning, feel seriously bad for the next day or two, a lighter wallet, embarrassing yourself etc? Being bad? I've never drank to be bad... lol? Enjoying yourself, I guess however can't you enjoy yourself sober and socialise sober?

suicide? get wasted? fun?
Fun? Can't you have fun without probably making a prat of yourself at some point? Get wasted? Yeah I guess it feels good until the morning, then you've gotta ask if it's worth it.

makes me feel good
Guess so, unless you drink a load or are forced to drink horrible wife beater.

I'm not saying don't drink, I'm just wondering why I actually do it but that's probably because I'm feeling the effects of being forced onto Stella. And I've just woken up at 1PM, wastes most of the next day... ehh. Lighter wallet, feel horrible, cba doing anything etc. Guess you gotta ask yourself if it's worth it and that's most probably a personal decision.

Not hungover, just that I was forced onto Stella and anyone who drinks Stella knows it has a horrible morning after effect. Ehhh it was 'alright'. Good DJ and that but police came at past 11 because it was all outside (which has resulted in my sneaks ******* up!!!!!) so loads of people complained so we got kicked out about 12. So we walked like, an hour back into town to go out there but then I decided I cba because it'll be dead as it's the Halloween thing tonight/tomorrow so just went home.

A few people get in drunken fights but it's really very few people and infrequently, no doubt you've seen in the newspapers the odd stabbing outside a nightclub but that really isn't a lot. Bare in mind alcohol is consumed in places other than at night clubs, houses, pubs, parties etc.

Most people get over hangovers within a few hours, it's very rare for them to last a whole day. And some lucky people are immune to them anyway, moi for example.

I actually don't see what's wrong with drinking socially, the taste of beer/cider is quite nice, a few cans whilst chilling with mates without the intention of getting tipsy/drunk is fine.

Of course you can socialise sober, but there's definitely an edge and a lot of fun to getting drunk and it allows you to socialise in a completely different way, which is generally a lot funnier and more confident. It's all very well saying you're a confident person, but alcohol introduces a new element to confidence :P

Essentially, it's boring not to drink alcohol in my opinion.

Sorry, but that made me laugh, anyway, moving on. Alcohol can make a man aggressive, especially if they're in groups. Sure everyone goes through the happy stage but sometimes someone can go through that stage and anything can spark up. I've seen plenty of things happen because of alcohol. Sure they're relaxed but if something happens they're more than happy to jump in quicker than they would sober.

Like I stated earlier on in the thread, I'm not saying don't drink I'm just questioning why I do it. Sure I have a laugh but when you're roaming town at 5AM with it chucking it down and you just want to get home is it really that fun. I'm not going to stop drinking, I just question my own decisions. Hell, I've already got plans for next year let alone next month.

It depends, if you're socialising drunk and you meet someone whose sober they're not going to feel the same way as you do, if anything they could be pretty ****** off that you're so steemed. The drunk socialising is a positive but at the end of the day, it's all fake. As fun as it is, you could make a 'friend' and never see them again.

You're talking of people getting in fights and aggression constantly, you'd realise if you frequently got drunk or hung around with drunk people this isn't the case. You also speak of how you "could" make a friend and never see them again, if you'd got drunk you wouldn't be saying "could" because no doubt you would of made "drunk friends" you wouldn't see again.

The point you're missing is, it's a lot of fun. Perhaps it's a little bit sad in society that to have lots of fun, sometimes you require a few drinks but there's no real harm done, just a lot of fun to be had.

I don't particularly care what you believe so I don't understand why you've tried to reiterate it. It changes from situation. Sure if you're drinking round a party the chances are it'll be a laugh and trippy, same about a night out depending where you're at and you keep your head down but reality is if you want a fight whilst drunk in town you'll find one easily. I'm not saying everyone fights whilst drunk but I've seen it plenty of times when lads I know have kicked off because of one reason or another (mainly because they go out looking for something and they'll find it). Also if you go on any football away day with the 'lads' you'll see it kick off. This is down to a mixture of high alcohol intake and testosterone, same on a night out if you're all in groups.

I've met plenty of people who I've spoken to all night, add them on Facebook then delete them a while later because I'll not bother with them again. Hell, Thursday night I was at a party where I didn't know the guy but acted like his mate because it was his birthday, I didn't bother with him again.

I'm not missing that point. Yes it is fun but the morning after sometimes isn't.

It's quite amusing considering you've not grasped (although I have stated previously), that this thread isn't about me stopping drinking and refusing to do so. I don't hang around in groups in parks if that's what you're getting at considering it would be quite cringeworthy for the vast majority of my friends considering they're either at University, starting soon or even working.

No, but you seem to think people drink to get pissed when obvs not. All im trying to say is that not everyone gets pissed and people do drink for other reasons, such as wine for dinner ect. When your clubbing, you have a choice to have a drink and if you do, you have the choice to drink till your pissed or to have only one.

when you go to a proper club you'll realise how **** it is without alcohol. i'm sorry. you can argue as much as you'd like about having fun without it etc but when it comes to going out on a saturday night with dance music, strobe lights and all that, you need alcohol.

If you want to drink, go ahead. If you don't, then that's fine.

I do drink on the weekends when I go out, but it doesn't mean to say everyone has to. You can have fun without drinking, I know a few people that don't drink alcohol when we go out, yet they still love it.

Probably for the majority of people on this forum being under 18, alcohol is somewhat a big thing for you, but once you get older you realise it isn't that big a deal. I was always drinking as a kid that by the time I turned 18 I wasn't as interested in drinking.

Each to their own. If you don't want to drink when you go out, don't let people tell you that you have to :D

oh well that's like saying if alcohol didn't exist we would be doing other things. obviously.

i'm talking about removing alcohol from pubs right now and seeing how the modern alcoholic society we live in now would react lol.

I know it's slightly different but people said the same thing about the smoking ban in public places. However what i was saying was that it is possible :).

I wouldn't remove alcohol from society at this stage though as it would lead to crime (alcohol trafficking lol).
