With the new update coming there will be biomes etc and I want to know who thinks the old map should be scrapped for a new one.

Can we save the map we have now and then make a new one? if so yes, even if not - yes :)

It may be a possibility to paste the current map into a new one, but then it would mess up all the warp locations and protected cuboids.

And it also may not be possible while I don't have a graphics card.

I guess it would make sense to start again but would be a shame for all of the creations and what not to be deleted.

I dont think its a matter of pasting it, just a matter of keeping the creations on a save file, if theyre not getting fully deleted then im happy.

Restart it with a road system, allotments etc. then if people need more space then they start further out. Then you have a nice inner city with like a town hall and all that jazz.

I can remember seeing a video like this, made the place look so much better than our random server

Exactly, it looks so pleasant. Most good servers do this, save the first 250x250 blocks around spawn for public structures and then have building spaces and shops around it :D

Too bad when I tried to organise this the majority of the houses got burnt down or griefed in some way :/

Whitelisting, also the 'public' areas can be protected and the 'allotments' can be protected on a per user basis.

Good idea, also i'd like to know if you guys want a new map as soon as the update is here or to wait a while. My access to minecraft is very limited at the moment at about 0.5fps on lowest settings without a graphics card, so i'd need to rely on mods to help map it out from spawn. I don't see a problem with putting the old map up for download, means that the network would finally be finishable by individuals with the use of minecarts etc.

Wait so does that mean with the new hey0 mod minecarts are fixed?

EDIT: Wait nvm I re-read it :P

Immediately, I would recommend grabbing a flatgrass map as they're good for building cities on (Just the loaded chunks around spawn are flat, the rest is still randomly generated from the seed.), that way it's easy to mark out and when building a city type thing you'd have to flatten it out anyway. You could get someone to make the roads in advance on single player and then load it onto the server.

No, but if you downloaded it you'd be able to load it into singleplayer.

Flat grass maps are stupid. Just make a road/street system like that was implemented in the new town. That was kewl.

We dont need a flat map, we can just cuboid large areas.

Ok, you guys have till tomorrow for any finishes you want to make to your current designs before the map is reset. The old map will be up for download shortly afterwards.

If you make a new map, may as well start it on a VPS?

This, it's the best way.

You could also wait for Beta, I'm thinking it'll be Xmas for Beta which isn't far off and Biomes aren't even complete yet so it'd be a waste.
