I'm looking to purchase another monitor, for use in what will be a dual monitor set-up. I already have a 19" monitor and am looking for a small one to go in the corner of my desk for use on certain applications - which I will want running all the time.

I was wondering if anybody knew who sold any cheap monitors. I have limited desk space and don't really need a huge monitor. I have looked around, but small ones are hard to find.

+Rep to any suggestions

If you have too limited space for another 19" you could get a rotatable monitor.

For monitors I recommend Samsung

Monitors from 15" (Albeit touch screens :P)

Edit:
Although you'd be far more productive to replace your 19" with a 24", statistics show that getting a larger screen is more productive than getting a second screen the same size.

You might want to take a look here (http://www.computerdisplays.co.uk/15_inch_flat_panel_monitor.htm) for something that suits your needs. Computerdisplays is a company located in Cambridge that specialise in refurbishing used monitors so they're looking new and are in fine working condition. I've had a breif look and I've saw some monitors for around thirty to forty quid. Good luck.

any LG monitors are superb. I have found a beautiful 22" but I see it's too big for your setup

I use with my Proview MA782KC (17" with speakers), a Dell E171FP (8 years old), which isn't bad. Free off Freecycle :D

What kind of ******** advice is this? Show my these statistics please. You'll find that more monitors = more productivity. Have you ever tried switching between 2 smaller monitors and 1 not much bigger monitor? I doubt it. I now find it impossible to work on 1 monitor, whatever the size, I'm far more productive with 2 or 3.

I prefer to work on a single monitor rather than two at the moment, simply because manufacturers are still making screens with massive bezels around the edge that just look plain ugly when you put two or more displays next to each other. When they get that sorted with bezels of like 1mm for a DECENT price, then I will use multiple.

I can't remember the link to the article but the advantage it has is due to head movements. A larger screen increases in all directions where as dual screens you move sideways (generally).

Well, since I added my Dell to the mix, I've found it easier to work with 2 monitors. Especially seeing as the maximum res I use is 1280x1024 on each screen. Heck I only get to 1366x768 if I'm on the laptop.

Top marks for reading comprehension. That study says that a bigger monitor is more productive than one smaller one - that's pretty much common sense - not what you said, "1 big monitor is better than 2 smaller screen". 2 smaller monitors are better than one not so big (24" isnt that big) any day.

Top marks for reading comprehension:

who use a single 24" display are 52% quicker

instead of one helps, too, although not quite as much: the speed increase from switching to dual 20" displays from a single 18" monitor is only 44%

Learn to read.

Reading the whole thing is key to comprehension. Picking out facts and manipulating them to fit your argument isn't really credible is it?

folks who use a single 24" display are 52% quicker at tasks like editing documents and tossing numbers between spreadsheets than those who use a single 18" display

Faster than someone using a SINGLE 18" display. We're talking about duals in this thread, not single small displays vs single big displays.

switching to dual 20" displays from a single 18" monitor is only 44%

LEARN TO COUNT, increase from single 24" is more than two 20"

A percentage increase of an unknown base amount, very comparable. I'm pretty good at counting, I do A-Level double maths :(

Their base amount productivity of a single 18" screen. 24" has a higher increase.

ingle 24" display are 52% quicker at tasks ... than those who use a single 18" display.

It's impressive, but not really the solution. I don't see myself getting two 37" screens :P.

Dual? How about tripple!

I sport two monitors with the iMac, and then a third one running Windows adjacent to the ones on the mac. I can use the same keyboard and mouse, and audio out with both operating systems at once with a application called Synergy.
