Basically, there is a competition called Def Jam Rapstar: Rhyme Master (Def Jam the famous record label.) And basically, I think your school has to be entered into it in order for you to post this and out of 4000 schools that were offered, I think only 4 schools accepted? So yeah, let your teachers know about this if you fancy taking part.

Info:
Def Jam Rapstar: Rhyme Master is a national competition open to anyone aged 12-17.

To enter, you’ll need to write (and perform if you want to) a short rap that shows off your language skills. You can rhyme about an event in your life, an experience you’ve had, your mates, your family – whatever you want. You can also ask your teacher to help you.

The prize:
All the raps we receive will be judged by Chipmunk and the National Literacy Trust (http://www.literacytrust.org.uk/). The winner will get an exclusive visit from Chipmunk at their school along with a copy of Def Jam Rapstar – you could even challenge him to a battle!

I also heard from my teacher, that you can get signed with the record deal, but this was sent in her email as she signed up for it, but I couldnt find anything on the site.

This means it won't be judged on how good your language skills are lol

I'm too old for this but looks great for any young lyricists, rap is easily the very best medium for showing off your talent if you are actually good with words so there ought to be plenty of talent on display here... somewhere amongst all the studio gangsters trying to just SpIt HaRdZ about how many knives they carry to school. Also the game they're advertising (basically a rap version of singstar) looks pretty good

yeh i also doubt its very much to do with language skills, but my teacher who is like 42, shes truly amazing lol, she actually helped her son make up lyrics for his raps which he performed infront of skepta and that, and when asked where he got his inspiration from, he was too shy to say his mum lol.

Chipmunk is terrible, who ever mentions money and guns the most will win.

Had a look at the site because I thought it might be fun to try a track even if I can't actually enter, but the beats they've picked are horrible! I love Primo and JB but their tracks in the selection are reallllllly specialised for the rappers they were made for in those cases, so basically everyone's going to enter on the Dre beat because it's so much easier. Can't help but see the white influence on this lol
