Why do we need console tags in the gaming forum?

Hey,

As per the sticky in the gaming forum, specific console discussion should go into the sub forums, whilst general discussion stays in that parent forum. Why do we need specific tags here? :S

I can only think the reason for them being there is because they were added before the subforums, or someone had the intention of removing the sub forums but I can't account for it in the past year of Forum Management which I've been part of so.. aha I'm stuck for answers on that one.

I'm sure Jamesy will remove them.

They've been there for years and I think Hecktix is right about them, that they were added around the time sub-forums came in. It was either that, or because some games are multi-platform and to make it easier to talk about them they had the tags set-up so anyone can talk about the game, but there was more leniency towards whatever console. It's the only semi-logical reason I can think of, at least :P

They're definitely not needed though. It's amazing no-one has pointed them out as a problem though!
