Ok i need a list of the jobs you can think of which arent direct.

Meaning :
Policeman (No qualifcations needed)
Receptionist

Examples above are the things i mean.. If you can think of 9-5 jobs that would be great. No qualification would be better as it makes the search broader..... Thanks..

By direct i mean like - HTML expert or whatever... Done all that except fireman and i cant get into that.... I want a career more than a job. if that makes sense.

I think I know what you mean.

You could try applying for bottom end-business and working your way up? My family seem to be pretty good at that.

(By bottom end I mean a lower worker in a firm/company then working your way up to the top ect.)

Every emergency services role is very hard to get into even as a volunteer.

You probably want to think about services or jobs where the training is provided as to be honest qualification less jobs aren't going to really provide a career.

Retail
Any apprenticeship based job.
Carpet fitter.
Manufacturing
Assembly Line / factory work.

All my friends who left pre-GCSE's are now on the dole or in prison, with the exception of one who works for his dad.

All my friends who left Post-GCSE's - Pre-As-levels are now in a steady employment, one is an estate agent on about 35k driving a BMW, another owns his own plumbing company with 5 employees and the last one works for Barclays as some obscure finance role on about 27k.

Qualifications mean a lot to an employer, they basically tell them that you are not an idiot and they won't be wasting their time or money hiring you.

Different generation and different times for a start, especially back when industry and manufacture was booming, right now neither is. You may as well say, "screw school and become a billionaire you will be fine".

This sort of mentality or idea is pretty much what every 14 - 17 school leaver falsely reassures themselves with only to find themselves unemployed or on a low income years later.

I mean if you take the time to look at reality statistically if you leave school without any qualifications you won't exactly be driving a BMW any time soon. We have record unemployment currently, finding a job is becoming harder especially as you are competing with more and more people, having zero qualifications on top of minimum experience isn't going to get you hired any time soon.

I was taught to read CV's by first scan reading qualifications and experience and sort them in two piles, the pile worth reading properly and the pile worth shredding. If I saw no qualifications and little experience on a CV it would end up on my shred pile, after all I wouldn't even know if the person had the basic abilities to read, write and count hardly something I want to question in my staff.

Branson and Sugar are self made billionaires and both of them are above average in other qualities, if you figure yourself to be an entrepreneur then good luck with it but you will have to do everything for yourself.


To throw around the statement "Qualifications often aren't everything" is just foolish and naive. Because truthfully it is the complete opposite they often are everything.

I am talking from experience and observation, in my current job I was promoted in 3 weeks because my qualifications were outstanding when compared to my peers. In my previous job I was promoted to a manager after 1 year making me the youngest manager in the institute at 17 years old.

I see where your both coming from... i didnt mean i have none i just wanted to ease my search..

However, about reading CV's like that, when i eventually run my business, i will read every one. It matters not if one peson has 0-10 qualifications as you "invest" within the person and if it doesnt work out then you fire them. End of the day, i think more business' should be like that rather the stereotype people with little/no qualifications as its not always about education. Obviously if i needed a HTML expert i wouldnt hire someone with no computer tolerance. However, there is no harm in a trial. I mean, i dont have an IT qualification but i can set up, run and maintain a perfectly good website and i know my way around a PC quite well.

I guess, because my family arent so well off and because i dont have many qualifications, im ready to give people the chance to do something rather than wait for the perfect person on paper.. for them to be the most irresponsible/arrogant/naive/low life on this planet.
