Hey Ben!

First of all, well done on taking it. I think sometimes people forget to praise you for doing an exam, it's a nervous experience and I think you should hold your head up high for actually experiencing it when you come to do it. I think you should really make sure you relax- it's easier than said but I have known that the examminers are nice and cheery and it's often nice to connect with them. It's actually not a bad experience at times: try to pretend you're playing it to your teacher and carry on. Make a mistake? Carry on. Unsure on a question or oral? Carry on and take a guess. Feel confident and make it sound like you are confident towards the examminer, if you're uncertain sometimes they give you hints or another chance, but I think it's often a good idea to take a guess or if you can't remember something (like a memory test) improvise. It's often a good idea.

Good luck, Ben! :D

You can say that with everything- you're not going to be sure what things are like. You're not gonna know what a new job is like, a new course etc. etc. but you have to try it out and just go with it! :)

If you know everything and can do everything, then there should be nothing to worry about at all :)

I also took grade 2 after skipping grade 1, I was nervous too, but just stick to your knowledge and what Alex said and you'll be absolutely fine :)!

Good luck!

It will be fine Ben.

I have sat a number of exams, and only failed one (which annoyingly I found out about like 2/3 days ago..). It was a theory exam (grade five).

But anyway, the examiners in the individual exams are normally really kind - so don't worry.

Good luck :)

backkkkkk

the guy was really nice and he spoke like the queen. When he asked me for my first chord I froze for a second then I remembered to just chill and got it fine. Last chord he asked for Em7 well thats what I think he said but I was like eh thats not in grade 2 so i just played Emaj7. Should've really asked him to repeat

Scales were ight, the melody was fine and the other one, naming the parts was fine, the whole 2nd fret 3rd string i just guessed, the accompaniment was fine and the oral was kk

so should be a pass :)

Of course I don't know but what grade is Em7 in?

I think, if you've come out confident, then you probably have passed because I think the majority of us get nervous after it which is where we're uncertain.

From my experiences, you have to do REALLY badly to get a fail in the early grades :)

Yeah, I have never failed up until grade 5 and I had some dodgy moments :P

I'd love that to be true but it's not haha. Once my teacher had her whole group of students who did an exam with the same woman fail because she was a terrible marker. She complained bitterly to the abrsm people I think and she got fired from being a examiner aha

Em7 is in grade 3/4...or at least I learnt it at about that standard. I'm grade 5 both on Singing & guitar :)

Well done & good luck! May I ask if it was acoustic or electric and how long you've been playing? :)
