View Full Version : Reporting people on Habbo.

When you sent a report in to the Habbo Mods, they send back messages that are pointless and do not help. Anybody agree?

yes - they don't have to be in massive detail

just because they sometimes use auto messages doesn't mean they don't read what you have reported

the main perpose of replys is for you to know they have received the report properly

Most of the replys are just automated messages selected of a list anyway...

I never really report people now unless it's like serious. Because of the above reasons.

This... but on some occasions they can be helpful

I think it'd be foolish to expect them to personalise every response, so as stated above, I think they send an automated response just to let you know they've received it, and then they can act in the way they see fit.

Sometimes. However a LOT of times mods have totaly misread my complaint/and gave me unfair warnings for reporting people.

The Mods are absolutely useless, seriously.

Seeing as we are an English Hotel, based in the US why the hell are most of the Mods from Singapore!?
Habbo really needs to get Mods that understand how to moderate, what to do and how to speak English.

If it was an automated message, using sense wouldn't they use "Thankyou for your report, we will be reviewing the situation shortly and appropriate action will be taken". Atleast its better than reporting someone for blocking, and them coming back saying If they are flooding bla bla bla remember to click the ignore button.

Some of the replies I've gotten were to answer questions, which they have. If they say "look in the FAQs" and I know it's not in the FAQs, most of the time they reply with the answer.
Some of the time they say something like: "Thankyou for your report, we will be reviewing the situation shortly and appropriate action will be taken. If they are still abusive, use the ignore button until we deal with them", which is, what Joresh said, helpful. It means (imo) that they are taking it seriously and doing something, even though we don't know what they do/if they do it.
Sending an automated message isn't always a bad thing (even if they say they're going to deal with it) because it saves the moderators time having to write it by hand, but i don't know if they do or don't type it out :P

Yeah,

I think they are just auto messaged. However when I done a HxL give away I got perm banned and I got a message from one of them appologising.

Although I rarely use the system, it appears as if they miss the point a decent part of the time. Otherwise, it can sound like they haven't taken your request/report seriously. Set messages or not, they need to put some work into it to make it more appropriate/friendly/helpful.

So after that, what's your opinion on them?

Always pointless ones like, please use this instead or do this instead.
Its like no your a moderator, this is your job to moderate the hotel and keeping it within the moderation guidelines and not letting people get through.

Some of the messages you receive are generated by the system rather than moderators and those messages are primarily to let you know the status of a call for help. For instance as soon as you send a Call for Help you get a pop-up saying your report has been received and will be reviewed. Let's say your report leads to the moderator banning someone who they can see from the attached chat log is behaving badly, once they have banned they close the issue and you receive a message from the system saying "Your report has been reviewed and appropriate action taken. Please remember you can use the ignore button to filter out chat you don't want to see"

All of the messages*

These "status updates" which are meant to show users moderators are doing something, are actually hurting you.

Yeah they've helped me before most of the times they don't though. When we merge I didn't get the badges so I told them and they fixed it within seconds. When they muted me for saying 'phone' in HxHD when I was helping someone buy credtis I told them what happened and they un-muted me.

No, I can sometimes report really serious stuff (racist/e-bullying) and they just auto-message me. THE ONLY TIME i have ever had a personal message is when I asked "Will penguins ever be tradeable" and they said "there are no plans to at the moment", yet when something is urgent...examples being:

"extreme racist abuse" "if someone is annoying you click "ignore"" -.-

They might get hundreds of these, maybe that's why they say it.
I can't have a say because I haven't used a moderator call for help since the merge, but back then, they did do some personalisations.

Moderators will not send you a personal message if you report abuse from someone else I'm afraid. In practical terms, if each moderator is dealing with 150 calls an hour, they just can't write a personal message to each caller on top of reading the relevant chat logs and taking action against the offender. If they did, the result would be that you waited a very long time for your call to be dealt with.

The message about 'ignore' is in the automated message the system generates when the moderator has dealt with your call and it's just to remind players about that function. It doesn't mean nothing was done about your report however. If evidence in the attached chat log backs up your complaint then the offender will receive either a warning or a ban depending on the severity of what they were doing. The moderator cannot tell you exactly what action they have taken as that would equate to discussing details about somebody else's account with you.

In some cases, multiple players report the same person within a short time frame. When that happens all the reports are dealt with in one batch rather than as individual reports.

They don't tell us, but we can assume. If we report them for such offences, they're usually in the room. I can see if they get banned or muted and 90% of the time, I see nothing happen, not even a mute.
