i know it's been asked/proposed before over the years, but, why can't we have pictures of ourselves as our avatars?

i know before it was something to do with the official fansite ting, but we ain't an official fansite anymore, so why can't it be allowed?

i can't really see the harm in it, the user would be the one deciding whether to use their photo or not and it wouldn't be mandatory for all users to reveal their identity.

thoughts?

Still official. Though you could get away with murder now.

Habbox isn't official anymore? When did this happen?

Also, your profile picture is allowed to be a picture of yourself.

I don't think it has anything to do with being official, I just don't want to see your face staring at me when I make posts, it's either:

- distracting
- offputting, by some peoples er...

Hmm.

Are you serious? Do you think Habbo pays attention to fansites anymore?

When was the last time a Habbo Staff said they'd DJ on a Habbo Radio or do a meet & greet?

They've lost contact with their community completely.

The fansite rules are obsolete now. They are not enforced even with Habbo Staff browsing the forums daily (Redtiz). We could sell VIP all year round and probably not get told off.

eg.
Publish any unreleased news regarding updates, new furni or features without Sulake's prior permission.

We have an ENTIRE forum section that breaks that rule.

Also, koony I'm not sure on some of your "O" and "X" things in your post. Please clarify.

Also, koony I'm not sure on some of your "O" and "X" things in your post. Please clarify. Oh sorry, should have made a legend lol. Below is based upon what I have seen as a new member, open to interpretation.

O = Pass, as far as I know.
X = Naughty, according to previous Habbo Staff. That we do.
/? = I'm not too sure.

Are you serious? Do you think Habbo pays attention to fansites anymore? Not really, and obviously not LOL. I couldn't care really unless someone starts haxoring me.

What that rule means, as far as I'm aware, is that say the news reporters can not start posting news reports regarding upcoming features. Although then again, sites like Puhekupla and HabboTimes do that but they may have Sulake's permission to do so.

* Charge users for premium services such as VIP access. X
HabboxForum does not do this. Selling Donator is permitted. As for the current VIP, that is also permitted because all income generated goes to charity :).

* Act as an affiliate for a commercial entity, nor offer merchandise (including Habbo furni) or services for sale. X
That means that people can not buy/sell Habbo for real money. Which is against our forum rules.

* Represent that your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy or that any other content on your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy. X
I'm sure in the terms and conditions of HabboxForum, it says that we are not approved/affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy :P.

i believe it was turned down last time because no one wanted to see ugly teenagers everywhere

We offered a compromise allowing users to put pictures of themselves as their profile picture, as this is their own personal page on the forum and users have to click to see it.

For avatars it's a simple no. Many people don't want to see other users staring at them from every post and allowing it removes the choice of them to see it or not (with profiles this is entirely dependent on clicking the name).

If someone had it on their avatar (a picture of themselves) how would you know it was them? If they had never posted any photos of themselves or anything?

If it's suspected they get sent a polite PM asking if it is, and to source the image if it's not them.

This. And then they would be contacted asked to remove the picture if it is themselves.

I believe they face other issues in regards of Habbo staff DJing on online radios.
