A&F make nice clothes but they're not what I'd call "top designer" fashion, they're a casualwear retailer. To satisfactorily fit the definition of a top designer (for me at least) they'd need to be companies that actually influence the world of fashion as well as being household names like Gucci, Vivienne Westwood, Armani, etc., rather than just being a well-known retailer of decent quality

retailer or high fashion/haut couture?

I can't say I disagree but A&F in my opinion are "top designer" only because of the price tag! Although stuff like Gucci and Prada are much more what a designer label should be, in the fashion world. I guess what I'm looking for is casual designer then, if that's a good way to put it.

Retail Fashion, stuff like Hollister. I don't really have the money for fashion type designer brands such as Armani.

Abercrombie & Fitch
Hollister
Adidas
Nike
Gucci
Prada
Dolce & Gabana
Calvin Klein
DKNY
Fendi
Armani
BOSS

I do like a few of them! Thanks +rep :)

How about stuff like Lacoste, Fred Perry?

I love Fred Perry but they don't really sell hoodies, more around polo shirts and shoes.

ooo Diesel + G-Star

I'll take a look at G-Star :) Thanks +rep

American Eagle should have plenty you like then yeah, they're similar to A&F with a lot of their ranges I've seen. Note that Hollister is a branch of A&F which isn't of the same high quality (although not shabby clothing by a long shot) but because of that comes quite a bit cheaper, so if you're not after spending £60 on a tshirt they're good to look into. With high-end retailers you do get some very good quality items in terms of how they're made, but you can easily end up forking out a large sum for things that just look like high street clothes :P
