on the weekend I ****** one of my tires. My truck comes with a full size spare (summer, performance tire) and the rest of my tires are studless ice & snow tires. The tire is ****** beyond repair so it has to be replaced at a cost of almost $300 (pissed) and I don't have the money/I don't want to spend the money on a new tire. SO, my truck is 4WD, for optimal traction where should I put the one summer tire I have?

It's spelt tyre by the way...
uhm...

is it a 4x4? In which case it wouldn't matter as much because every wheel drives. But if it's 2 wheel drive I'd put it on back.

good knowledge there.

if it's RWD put it on the back. FWD front OR back depending on how good the other tyres are, ideally the front as it wears down quicker and would provide more grip when turning in/accelerating, but it'll oversteer a bit if the rear tyres are a bit cack and/or the back of the car has very little weight to it.

Back. Save your best tyres for the front incase you need to stop in a hurry.

It's spelled tire over here, as in www.tirerack.com, since I'm from North America I spell it TIRE.

Buy the new tyre, it's not worth the risk. The traction control will get all confused if one tyre is spinning around wildly while the other has traction. If you really don't want to then I'd put it on the back. Although my recommendation is to get a new one. :P

i told my mom today and she wired me $400 for a new tire and installation. she was really pissed because she just bought the tires 2 months ago and one of them is already ****** and she blamed me for it (i ran over a bottle, lol). i just hope it's here on monday or else it has to wait until i get back. my mom made a good point, the spare is on the car, so the car has no spare.

my moms bfs daughter was at university in her bmw 3-series and her dad told her to go to bmw and get a price on winter tires and fax it to him, so she did and her dad wired her the money. she took the money and went to walmart and got cheap winter tires and spent the rest of the money on partying and alcohol. she gets a flat, her boyfriend goes to change it... where's the spare? the new 3-series bmws are equipped with run-flats so there is no need for a spare. the tires she got at walmart were not run-flats so she was up **** creek because she had to call her dad and he was PISSED because he had to wire her the money again to get the proper tires and he was like FAX ME THE RECEIPT FROM BMW.

Apart from showing off, what was the point in that story?

Hey Metric, I also had a similar problem.

I was just driving along in my Mercedes C Class when my iPhone 4 started ringing, so I reached over to the side to grab it when suddenly the steering wheel drifted over to the pavement and scuffed my front wheel. I got it replaced but it was an expensive mistake costing me £400 with it being an AMG alloy. But what annoyed me the most was that all my mum wanted to say to me was that the deal had gone through for the house, I was like "Mum did I really need to know, you buy another house like every week now it's your business...". But anyway back to the tires, I couldn't find any room to store them in the garage because my Dad's Hummer H2 6.5L 2006 was in there... So I actually just left them in my home gym lol. I mean it was either there or next to the swimming pool but that would of just looked weird...

First off.. Why would be saying tires if your english? and why would you have a 4 year old hummer in your garage? and why would you have a swimming pool in england? FAKE!

Apart from being jealous, what is the point of replying to the thread if you have absolutely no input or constructive information to add. Just because your parents don't have nice things doesn't mean you have to be jealous of the people who do. If you care to know, I went home for Thanksgiving in my SUBARU OUTBACK faced the thought of driving home in a snow storm with half bald summer tires. So my mother, being the nice hard working person she is, told me I could take her truck, which she worked very hard for, back to university with me until Christmas. I can't drive home for Christmas, so I'm going to take it back in February during reading week, in the mean time she has other vehicles she can drive and told me not to worry about it.

I've posted it before, and I'll post it again:
