The article doesn't make sense. Last.fm, a website that works in every country didn't have Lady Gaga in the top ten, but you expect that she would have been top of the Spotify list if it were in the US?

The reason Kesha is number one is because she's had the most NEW scrobblers/listeners of 2010. Lady Gaga already had a fair amount, but because Kesha just exploded from nowhere, there are more unique listeners this year

The last fm one is based on album scrobbles, Gaga's The Fame Monster wasn't counted as an album because it's a revisited version of The Fame, whereas Animal was a new debut album that came out during 2010 and received the most scrobbles out of any other album that year :P
