SMF is free, so have much more users than vB.

I used IPB ages ago but I use phpBB3 at the moment which is free. I found vB seemed far to complicated, like simple tasks took longer than other things.

I used SMF ages ago and I got to say for if you wan't a forum with lots of Mods and stuff, easy to install, and easy to run the board, then SMF is the one for you.
