I agree that it's not worth the money at all, especially since there's a rope around the edge... and that the diamonds at the top won't even be seen.
That being said, they've done it simply for advertising. It will be on news channels all over the world and even by you posting this thread; they've achieved their goal :P

i agree that its just a marketing stunt & you can't really see the gems that well & yep i did what they wanted me to do by showing it off :P

Some are silly expensive, I was in a garden centre the other day and there was a 6ft prelit artificial tree which cost £600... I walked into Asda the next day and there was a 6ft prelit artificial tree for £30... and it didn't look much different at all.

Never seen the point in making a big deal over the Christmas tree. I suppose if you've got a big space to fill and you get a lot of visitors to your house or business then it's worth it. For us though, there's only myself, parents and close family and friends who will see it - so what's the point in spending loads on it? :P I'd much rather spend money on other decorations tbh, we have a cute little moving Santa and a load of Disney-Christmas merchandise which really makes the room look cheerful! :)

Seems pointless to me, but the UAE and Abu Dhabi have always seemed a bit pointless to me, over exaggerating gold, jewelry, cars and other luxuries as something amazing :P An interesting feat., but not that impressive.
