Camera Help? +rep.

I want to get a compact digital camera with my Christmas money, but I have no idea which ones are any good!

The only specs I really care about are, it has to be a decent amount of MP, to produce a good image, and I'd prefer a colourful one, too.

Any help would be great, +rep for useful posts

Olympus uTough series are amazing. We have a uTough 8010 (or something like that) which is the higher end model of it and it's fantastic, picture quality is very good, shoots 720p HD video and it's waterproof up to something like 10 meters, perfect for when we were in the pool in Cyprus :P
