Server?

Yo,

Looking for a new server, have around £700 - £900 (ex VAT) to spend on a Tower. Right now I was looking at: http://uk.insight.com/en-gb/productinfo/servers/HPIA110G6G with this network adapter: http://uk.insight.com/en-gb/productinfo/network-adapters/ITNA04J17 to add a second port.

Just needs to run:
Server 2003 R2 (possibly upgrade to 2008 R2 later, already got licensing):
- AD domain controller
- DHCP
- DNS
- File shares
- Print server
- Internet gateway (MS ISA 2006)

Will be RAID1ing the x2 250GB drives it comes with for backup and adding another x2 250GB drives for other stuff.

Would ideally like to get the most out of my money, and no, I'm not building this my self, it needs professional hardware warranty and support :P

May even up it to 8 - 12GB RAM to run a couple of VMs.

- iDRAC6 Embedded BMC Server Management
- Broadcom® NetXtreme II 5709 Dual Port 1GbE NIC with TOE
- 16X DVD+/-RW ROM Drive
- PowerVault RD1000 Internal SATA Drive Bay (For backups)

At work I use HP ProLiant ML350's. Theyre pretty Good.

They cost £1500 each inc price for 8GB RAM.

Go for this, but potentially go for 2 x 2GB memory modules so you can add more easier later. Also, up the CPU to an X3440 so you get Hyper-Threading.

Should last a little longer before needing an upgrade.
