honestly give it 200 instead and you might actually get some entries 20 rep can be gained by simply asking someone for it.

Asking for rep was against the rules last time I checked, if we started giving out insane amounts of reputation the reputation system would get out of hand. Most users rep power is under 10.
took me a while to realise what you were on about :)
I see what you mean about 20 being low for a competition, if it was higher it'd give more people an incentive to take part :)
Inseriousity.

I think people would be more interested in the vip anyway.

If the prize is creds/rep in comps . Giving just 10/15/20 rep isn't much of an incentive, to the non habbo users especially.

I personally would enter any competition that offered 200 rep points :P

i can see where you are coming from. 20 rep may not seem much and perhaps on occasion more could be offered. the problem is, i think 200 would be too high. 200 is a lot in terms of rep and in many cases would push someone up more than one level on the rep ranks scale, whereas building it up gradually is more exciting and meets the purpose better. in this comp i think the main prize is the vip, and the reputation is just an added bonus, moreso than a main prize. perhaps on very special comps around 50 would be more suitable to encourage people to enter, however I dont think it should go too high and other prize alternatives be used instead, since I personally think of rep as an reward or expression of appreciation rather than just a prize.

I seem to remember 50 being a number that was used for winners quite a bit, so I would suggest that. Depends on how often you give it out, but if you get more entries as a result, it's unlikely that the same person will always win. I agree that 200 is too high, 100 might even be too high.
Yeah i think 200 is way too high, although 50-75 sounds pretty good,
tbh 20 is pretty low in my opinion although you do get vip and stuff aswell

Personally, i would prefer 50-75 rep points, VIP alone doesnt inspire me to enter tbh

That's all very well but since when did anyone actually listen to that rule?
I've garnered around a hundred rep points in the past week I think. It's really not that hard.

It was enforced pretty decently for a while...not sure what the current status is, but enforcement of the rule is definitely plausible and reasonable.

What he means is that you wouldnt be allowed to actually ask for the rep (like put in your signature 'rep please') but people are allowed to offer rep for something, like people are offering rep to people for watching their Freeze videos :). Unless you mean you did ask for rep!

20 rep is perfectly fine imo. As Martin said, it's more of an extra bit on the side than the main prize; there's always going to be credits or VIP along with it.
During the World Cup Competition earlier in the year I managed to get over 200 rep from comps (20 per comp), so imagine how high that would be if they were giving 200 per competition.. :P

it is quite rubbish seeing as your reputation points do not go up that much.

Personally I think 20 is fine. 200 seems way too high, every light green block requires 200 and if 200 rep was given out in every competition to the winner, then people would begin to have incredibly high rep levels. I don't think it needs to change. As said above, it's only a little extra prize :).

I honestly don't see the problem with offering 20 rep because as others have said, it's the VIP that is the main prize and even with that you still get another 15 rep.
200 is far too high, especially for a competition that isn't even that big.
If it was two hundred people would be going up in rep power like mad!

The system is way too easy to abuse. A simple request on MSN or any other medium and you can get rep easily, and people can disguise it by adding "This is a good post" etc. Many a time I've been asked to rep people, but whether I do remains a complete mystery ;) 20 is very low though, 50 sounds reasonable. 20 = obtainable by any member if they put the effort in. 50 = will take years.

Oh definitely you're never going to completely cut down on it, but you remember that there were free rep threads and plenty of threads asking for rep etc. in the past, the rule does cut down on it some. Yes MSN can be used to avoid, but it dramatically reduces the incidences because you only ask people you know.

True, but the people who tend to be the sort to ask for rep are the ones who have loads of members on MSN/WLM. Probably due to the fact the rule exists, but still an abuseable system. 20 rep points isn't much, you should be aiming for just outside the reaches of some of the highest rep powered members.
Half of the active members have VIP, most have a decent supply of it, too. Winning an extra month won't really do much for them and if they don't play habbo then 2 hc sofas and a tubmaster isn't a good enough incentive. 200 is a little steep but 50 is definitely reasonable.
building it up gradually is more exciting
