I have an extremely clean diet. I do not eat sweets, chocolate or crisps. I drink a gallon of water each day and yet I still get spots. I wash every day with a face moisturizer and spot cream yet my acne still does not go away.
Ideas?

There must be a way to get rid of the spots though :/

how old are you 15/16? your going to get oily skin so its going to be impossible to get rid of all spots but when i was 15 (im 19 now) it bothered me too so go see a doctor and they'll prescribe you some tablets to work internally and slow down the amount of oil being produced which causes the spots, and a topical cream which reduces the inflammation of the spots. the type of tablets/cream will depend on how severe the acne is. luckily i responsed quickly and it had all cleared up in 6 months for my prom, but i think the doctor said standard time is a year. don't get too worked up about it though, most people going through puberty get some spots, if they didn't they're lucky!

getting acne has nothing to do with what you eat
It will just be teenage spots and the only way you can stop them is by using cream & this wont stop them fully as they will just keep coming and going.

debateable considering your skin is the biggest organ in your body
could be the quality of the moisturisers and face cream. may be using them too much (tis possible). personally the best thing you can do is LEAVE YOUR FACE ALONE! it'll clear up itself, don't touch it, don't agrevate it. orrrrrrrr you could go to the doctor

mehh well i had real bad red patches under my nose and on it, and a few spots on my chin and i went on it and it was the best thing i've ever done
like two months down the line and i've completely clear skin.. this was when i wasn't on the pill either so that couldn't of helped.
i had no bad reactions to it UNLESS i ate after i took it, made me feel a bit ill but i just took them after every meal
i really recommend going on it if it's annoying you that much

have you gone doctors and all?
my friend had it really bad for years but the doctors would only prescribe the 'next thing up' everytime untill he was at the top. he said it was like burning his face but within a couple of months his face was totally fine. proper weird considering his face was unfortunately bad for ages :(

I agree with this. Science has come along way with treatments of acne and doctors do take it seriously now..

This is really annoying. It's actually depressing me now. I keep getting spots even though I regularly wash my face, drink water, eat well. Gah and apparently the doctors prescription takes like 3-4 months to see results. My prom is on Feb 20th :[

Longer hair can cause acne, hair is naturally more greasy for teenagers (even if you washed it twice a day rather than once a day) - shorter hair usually helps. Do you have long hair or short hair?

My prom is on Feb 20th :[It's not a short-term fix, it took me between 12-18 months to get referred to the top of the "acne chain" (dermatology department at a hospital), the only step remaining is surgery but they're pretty certain the stuff I'm on at the moment will sort it.
I've tried about 5 different drugs but none have got me anywhere, but you never know you might be lucky and one works straight away. I have to take the current drug for about 4-6 months and it'll most probably work but it comes with a load of side effects cause it's so powerful. Very dry skin, constant chapped lips, depression, sickness and nose bleeds are all common and I've experienced most as of recent so they're rather reluctant to put people on the drug. Also have to take blood tests once a month.

Jordy are you taking roaccutane

Jordy, are you using Roaccutane? They sound very similar side effects to what I had on it, except not so much sickness and nose bleeds.
I got spots through my family dna so I was pretty stuffed, nothing would work in terms of usual stuff, i got put on a few medical things for a good 2 years until finally they referred me to a dermatologist who gave me roaccutane. Worst 6 months of my life taking it, the side effects were so bloody horrible & it didn't help being in year 10 and getting the **** ripped out of me for having flaky skin (i'm talking everywhere, was like a snake :X). Now my face is so clear though, I'm glad I stuck it out cuz my face is noticeably clearer, rarely get even one spot.

It's not all about your diet. It also happens with most peope when you start puberty. Average age is 14 - 18.

I've only been on it a month or two and the mood swings are particularly bad at the moment and I can't say I'm very encouraged by what you've said Pyroka but at least it works :L
I'm also not too pleased how you're not allowed to excessively drink whilst on the drug but so far I seem to be okay.

I never drank alcohol before I hit 18 so I was lucky there aha.
Nah I can't encourage you, it's definitely the hardest experience & it tested me as a person hugely, there were times where i wish it would just end but i'm happy i stuck in :]

I'm at the stage where the drug makes the acne even worse temporarily so I'm taking as much as I'm allowed and it'll be over quicker at least. Taking less amounts of it will just prolong treatment.

Exactly yeah, just get it done and over with, you'll love the results even if they aren't instant. You'll have to wait at least a year or two to see the FULL effect that it's had on your skin, and it's wonderful :P

You have to take pregnancy tests monthly, sign a load of stuff and use double contraception etc from what I've read? Cause it causes birth defects or something.

:l jfc. drugs aren't gonna help you. you have to find out the underlying cause and treat it rather than go through all that. your skin is an indication of your overall health, you could be allergic to something or have some nasty toxins in you. i probably can't understand as i've never went through an acne stage, most the males in my family have so i can see how it's genetic but drugs should be a very last resort to you. the effects aren't worth it. find out the cause of it first, your body is mostly self-cleansing, if your diet is as clean as you say you shouldn't have too much problems but if you do you might be unbalanced in some areas or have allergies that you need checked. otherwise it WILL go away, idk your diet but you're probably eating too much/too little that's causing it. i know for me dairy products clog my pores. also stress aswell can cause outbreaks.
sorry i am so anti-drug it aint even funny. i refuse to get injections if i can help it and never go the doctors or use over the counter stuff to treat myself. i don't believe in it at all. all the pollution in the air is ****** too so no-ones gonna have perfect skin anyway without the use of chemicals. (ps still stand by the no moisturiser or face cream. oh and water is not all that great for overall health. you get enough from your food..)

Aside from the obvious response, go to the doctor and get some drugs, there's some other stuff you can do as well. Try not to touch your face if you can avoid it, ie don't lean on your hands. Sounds obvious but really, avoid it.
Also another tip which I'm surprised no one has mentioned; sleep with a clean towel over your pillow at night. This means every night with no exceptions, replacing the towel with a clean one, as in fresh out the washing machine clean. Just drape it over your pillow before you go to sleep. I suppose the reasoning behind this is that most people sleep on the same pillow case for long periods of time depending on how often they change their sheets etc, so there's bound to be a lot of grease and skin etc from your face on it built up. The clean towel obviously isn't covered in the same crap as your sweaty old pillow case so you're better off. I've heard a lot of good things about this towel method from various different people, so you might as well give it a go.
I always use Clearasil, and it gets rid of my spots within a week.
If you look at any individual spot it'll likely be gone within a week by itself, enjoy your placebo.

Well it could be well on the way by then. Do keep drinking plenty of liquids and have as healthier diet as you can cope with. See what happens. Don't despair yet.

Hi, Well in march i would have had my acne for two years, ive been through every single medication possible and all herbal remidies, ive spoken to a dermotologist who has said that its not just foods or diets that you can get acne from, for example, the washing powder you use to wash you clothing in, which can be caused to give an reaction on the face as of little red dots. they have finally told me mine are just my age and that also the cleaning product my school was using to clean there tables with was not helping either beacuse i was touching the tables then touching my face. the things i can suggest is keep to an routine, wash twice daily once in the moring and once at night, also try to purchase an facial wash without perfumes or no colours, my doctor recomends Simple and Witch products, also purchase an purfying cleansing lotion, i dont temp work at sainsburys and there doing the simple facial wash and purfying cleansing lotion for 4 pound as a set, try not to touch you face if you can, change you pillow cases every 3 days, and also dont use a flanel or a sponge when washing your face us your hands, but clean them first, also if you eat pizza or mcds, or burger king, we all do once in a while always wash your hands afterwards, carry on drinkin the water beacuse it will clear your skin, also acne is hendretrey (sorry if i spelt that wrong) so im guessing one of your parents had it? dont be afriad to approach them, my dad had it and he gave me the talk, acne dosent change the person you are inside, be yourself if you are worried about them, i used to get really worried what people think but ive proven myself wrong, ive got a girlfriend of 7months and im really popular at college, my acne was a rare case that i had it that long, i have really sensitive skin, also i had a habbit when i had acne of bathing 3 times a day, dont do that makes the acne worse.. hope for all the best!

Apply mixture of lemon juice with cinnamon powder on your face and wash it after 20 minutes with warm water. This is very effective for treating acne.
