Switched to the dark side - AMD, and got a new mobo, and as a consequence, need some new ram. Unsure what to get though, was looking at 1600mhz RAM, and some Kingston 4GB and Corsair 4GB, one was 45 and the other was 59. What's the difference and what would people recommend?

Many Thanks

Is one Dual Channel and the other Triple Channel? If the Corsair is the £45 that is the Dual Channel, its what I was going to buy before I read the specs for the new 1155 motherboard I've swapped to.

Okay, looking at http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173122

Will that work in an AM3 system?

Any DDR3 will work. It's universal.

Wahey someone backed up what I told him on MSN :P I thought this thread was becoming overly complicated lol.

Actually I've had DDR3 that wouldn't work in a particular board before. Was so annoying that I'd managed to pick one of the few models that didn't work with that board :(.

I have never understood why that happens. RAM should be RAM... Just like a HDD for example... You don't see hard drives not being compatible with certain motherboards.

Having a look at the mobo: http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=eCWbkolMf0DOW0IV&templete=2
It says:
"4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1333/1066 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory"

I don't see 1600 there, does that mean it won't support 1600mhz ram?

AFAIK, it'll just slow it down so it can take it.

Fair stuff :') 1600 seems to be cheaper than 1333 anyways :S
