OK, I'm currently on my machine using a Proview MA782KC. 17", 4:3, 1280x1024, VGA, speakers. Not brilliant.

I've got about £65. No more. I could, infact, after this weekend, end up with less than that. I was on MCS the other night and saw this: http://www.mcscom.co.uk/product.php?xProd=12762&xSec=4
Dell Ultrasharp 1908WFP. 19" Widescren, 1440x900, DVI too. Plus it has a USB hub, which considering I'm running out of USB ports, is a good thing.

Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? Sure I can buy a new monitor for £70, but that BenQ that's £68 on ebuyer has a smaller res, same size screen, and VGA. I want to futureproof myself with DVI.]

Also, this is for my main rig, with a Sapphire HD 4670. Will it perform as well in games (such as GTA IV, EFLC, The Sims 3), as it does at 1280x1024?

Dell monitors are fantastic, go for it. I think that may be the model We got a few of for the office at work and they're very good.

It really is worth it. Dell have always produced good monitors, and I am looking to buy a new one soon - so I will definitely be taking a look. You will really notice the difference in performance despite it only being a 2" size difference.

Good luck.

will I get a noticeable drop in FPS from GTA IV?

You see, I'm also debating getting a 500GB external HDD for storing my DVDs on. But if the monitor will be more beneficial, I'll go for it.

You'll see slight framerate drops at those resolutions but nothing too drastic IMO, I say go for it over the 500GB drive unless you need the space.

The monitor price was without VAT :(

including delivery, it's £88.

Same price as a similar specced Asus monitor from Ebuyer
