Just go a new PC 1TB HDD etc

I was thinking of getting Ubuntu for free.
Or pirating a version of Windows, done that before but I want to try something new.

Or any other suggestions?

It depends on what you will be using your computer for.

As Windows is obviously supported more.

If you don't game you could give Ubuntu a go - if you aren't pleased with it you can always go to Windows.

I do a bit of both, Games, Photoshop designing etcWell forget Linux then, it's terrible for both. No doubt some advanced users will tell you that Linux can do everything and is better but just ignore them because it's crap compared to Windows and Mac as an OS for home computers.

I have Ubuntu Desktop 10.10, I must say what I use it for it is very good, all i use it for is the internet and music, but for what you need it for I would advise Windows :)

Most people tend to pay for their OS's from my experience.

Or is £40 for the best piece of software you will ever need too much?

Ultimate is pointless, go for Professional edition imo.
