A month, thank god lol.

Phew - at least it wasn't permanent. It makes me laugh that they allow rooms which say 'hot single sexy beds' then ban for this. :P

I agree with the ban in this case considering that it's extremely hard for moderators to distinguish what's actually banter and what isn't however I do disagree with the length of the ban, a month is a bit harsh. :(

A 30-day ban is the standard ban for anyone offering or requesting naked photos or 'dirty webcam' action. It's a ban to protect you because getting your kit off on webcam is an extremely dangerous passtime and one that can come back to bite you in the backside in years to come when Mr Bloggs, doing a routine Google on this job applicant Miss-X, comes across a load of raunchy photos and decides that Miss-X is perhaps a little too trashy for his organisation to employ.

Saying things which you know will get you banned for a joke comes with a harsh penalty i.e. getting banned. Moderators cannot see inside your mind to know whether you are joking or not, they have to act on what is front of them in a chat log and if that was the chat log...well it looks like you were asking for naked cam sessions.

Seriously, please don't do such jokes as it really wastes everyone's time - yours, because you can't play again for 30 days and Habbo's for having to deal with the call and then, no doubt, having to deal with your ban appeal when you explain that you were just joking ;)

I clearly quoted in my appeal that I was joking, and that these 2 people, very close friends, were also joking. It was to get us muted. Them 2 done it, so I thought I willl do it... I do it, and I don't get a mute, i get a 30 day ban and they don't. I have no thought to even show my face on a cam, to anyone, mind my sexual hardware [rofl]. But instead, they reply with just the line of what we said, not the other bits, which if they read clearly it would of been to anyone as a joke.

Also, saying it's for protection... The funny bit is, I can go on my other accounts that are attached to my ID, and if my ID was banned, I could of easily make another one. So I don't see no protection, if I can could just come back on. Maybe that's something Sulake could look into. :)

I actually agree with you, not about unfair ban but the part you said "saying it's for protection... The funny bit is, I can go on my other accounts" they should really think about computer bans/ip bans which actually work.

Funny that you appealed tho, why would anyone write that just to get muted? next time let your friends do it and you just pretend :-p

Re the bit in bold - most people appealing bans say they were joking, didn't mean it, were told to say it by someone else etc etc. I'm afraid that simply saying it was a joke doesn't change what the moderator sees in a chat log and what they have to act on. As I've said, when someone sends a report it captures a short window of chat - if there was some talk outside of that few minute window which indicated it was a joke, they won't see it.

As I said, you really should not joke about such things because they will be treated seriously if that is what the logs show. It's the same principle as people who get arrested for joking "I've got a bomb" when going through customs and then turn round to say "Only joking!" - it's not going to stop the police hauling them off for a full body cavity search.

Also, saying it's for protection... The funny bit is, I can go on my other accounts that are attached to my ID, and if my ID was banned, I could of easily make another one. So I don't see no protection, if I can could just come back on. Maybe that's something Sulake could look into. :)

The object is not to prevent you ever returning on any account, but to educate you about what is safe and what isn't. If you have a 30-day ban on your most used account it gives you plenty of time to reflect on what you said - in the case of webcam sex/nudes offers it gives 30 days to think about what that sort of activity is dangerous....and we also have lots of information on why it is dangerous on the webpages which we'd hope they'd read whilst banned.

A month to learn a lesson... Who ever made that idea in the offices must be strict parents. It's Habbo, with loads of teens. Teen = growing up, having fun. You're basically saying, one word out of line, you're banned. Because that what it just was, because I've never swore, and I don't even swear, mind what's gone on here.

My brother was permed for saying, "selling throne for real money" but in the room, it was seen as a joke as a way to say stuff like, "selling ducks for thrones". He doesn't even have half of a throne, full stop. But he has spent a good amount of his pocket money into what he did have, and he gets a perm ban for something which was seen in the wrong way from moderators? and he told me that he never even know you could sell habbo items for real money, and he's never been warned, banned, or anything before... but gets a ban over something like that. His also sent in loads of help tickets expliaining.. he didnt even have a throne, his never had a throne. and i dont think it's hard for habbo to look if his account has had a throne, and if he hasnt got a throne, then he obviously was joking.. but yet, he's still permed until 2021. what kind of lesson is that? not even a warning so he knows it's against the habbo way.. but a ban like that instead, even though his 13, and spent his pocket money INTO that account. [seakinggrind] and look into it if you think i'm talking crap.

and to be honest, we know you won't reply saying fair point, we'll see into this and take your suggestions etc, but instead you'll give a reason for everything, just like the bible. not trying to be rude, but i do give good points here... and i get replied with the same old.

The fact is one of your 'good mates' you were with, reported you. Why not go and eat them alive, then moan at Redtiz for doing her JOB. One month to learn a fairly serious lesson is not harsh - and offering to go on cam or whatever it was, is slightly worse than avoiding the swear filter (old habbo).

At the end of the day, you agree to the habbo way etc - so it is only your fault if you then break it - jokingly or not. I was perm banned once, when someone came in to a room flooding about a scam site. So I said 'HAHA YEAH LET'S ALL GO TO THAT WEBSITE.... next line: I am joking guys, seriously, don't be stupid' - at the end of the day, joking or not I should have said the first line. I did then get unbanned - as I told ludus to check the chat logs. He then said 'last warning' - I then got permed again for a similar thing but my 'last warning' was really the last warning ><

They should've read the conversation leading up to it, which probably had something like "hey, lets get muted for fun" "ok lolz what shall we say" "idk..." "u flash on cam to me" "ok so u can see my ****" which shows that it was banter. Whereas "Hey there sxc ;)" "hey" "asl" "16/m/fgsdjgs" "u flash on cam to me" "ok so u can see my ****" is clearly not banter

Yeah but redtiz did say the mods only get a little chat window and they have to go off that.

I once got permed for saying selling accoutn regardless of it being a joke you will get banned. Appeal it, however, it looks like you have, but don't mass them with tickets? Be patient.

Luckiyl it was only a 30 day ban. Build a bridge, get over it.

I didn't read that post but I don't think that's fair. They should, if they're not sure, check the previous chat. Especially if it's a perm ban, maybe not so much a smaller ban.

I'm not moaning at redtiz for doing her job, because she isn't even a moderator, so she hasn't banned me. And the Habbo way doesn't have, "don't joke, moderators have no sense of humour." - unless they do, then I'm extremely sorry. But good for habbo for banning kids on a kids game for having a joke.

Aidenn

The thing is though; maybe those moderators do have a sense of humour, but personally if i dont know someone, i don't know their sense of humour, this could be the case for the moderators, if they don't know you how can they know its a 'joke'?

Habbo Moderators tend to take things out of context, I was permed once for an out of context quote where I was taking the piss out of password scammers (The whole say your pass nd stars come up thing) since I had just had to kick one from my room. If the line after had been read it would have been obvious I was joking but Moderators don't have time to look at things in context and even Ludus for some reason couldn't understand it was a joke (Then again his reply didn't even involve having looked at the logs and was something like 'Don't scam').

Don't joke, it's serious crime that can lead to your Habbo account being banned, if in doubt, don't joke.

We don't ban people simply for swearing, there's a swear filter that you can use if you don't want to see swearwords, because we do recognise that teens swear. However webcam sex and nudes is not 'growing up, having fun' and we're really trying hard, along with other organisations, to banish that idea out of teenagers' heads. It is, in fact, really serious for you. If you're talking about distributing nude photos, once they've left your PC you never get them back and you have NO control over how many times they are duplicated and where they are distributed. In the case of sexual webcam sessions, it gets even worse.

Let me tell you a common scenario. Girl strips on webcam for her online boyfriend and he records and keeps it. At some point later in time they have a big bust-up and the lad decides to get revenge by fowarding it to a few mates, or even putting up a website about what a cow she is with that video on (and I've seen a few of those before now!) and spams the URL around. Now the number of people who see that video is multiplying and sooner or later it can wind up on any number of other sites where modern caching and face recognition ensures it can be found..even years later.

How is that fun? At some point later, a relative, a friend, a new boyfriend or god forbid a university admittance panel or prospective employer finds nudes or sex videos of you on the Net. Do you think you'll get that job? Or that university place? Or keep that new boyfriend? What about facing a relative who's seen you like that...think it'll change their opinion of you?

I can tell you for free I've rejected interviewees for jobs at Habbo before now purely on what I've discovered about them via a little Googling. MANY employers do it now.

It's right there in the Habbo Way: "You may not give away, sell or trade your Habbo account or seek to sell virtual items from Habbo for cash."

His also sent in loads of help tickets expliaining.. he didnt even have a throne, his never had a throne. and i dont think it's hard for habbo to look if his account has had a throne, and if he hasnt got a throne, then he obviously was joking..

Look, there's the thing. Habbo gets thousands upon thousands of player reports a day the moderator's priority is dealing with the ones which could possibly endanger someone in real life. Your brother does something silly, he ignores the Habbo Way (and the Terms & Conditions) and starts saying he wants to sell thrones for cash - he gets reported by a player and banned. Now, it's technically possible for a moderator to go through all his past purchases and furni trades to see whether he is selling thrones, but this is a task that will take a good hour of their time. In an hour they could answer another 100 calls. Now realistically, why should a moderator spend an hour doing a deep investigation into someone's purchase and trade history on the basis that they've decided to have a joke? What about the 100 people who won't get their reports answered that hour...would that be fair to them? It's just not doable...

The simplest solution is really not to engage in silly jokes...and they are silly because they're being taken seriously by other players, reported to us and you're ending up getting banned for fooling around.

Okay I get the point, I got a bit rushed, not thinking it's only a month anyway. But I do understand where you're coming from 100%, it's for habbo's users safety, and saying what we said wasn't really teen friendly either, but i guess some get a bit to carried away over a keyboard.

So a perm ban on a account that someone paid real money on just because they haven't got a hour to spend to check it right? Oh, just ban, i got loads more to do, perm them... they'll get over it. it works like that then does it? and even when reported as a ticket that they are hugely mistaken by this, but then still denie the appeal and say you're still banned.. and i'm not the type of guy to report a request like i have been in the last couple of weeks if i knew i was wrong, because as i said, the account didnt even have half a throne, mind one.. and you cant just tell me that's why you shouldn't joke about... what about the, "next time, dont joke about as this may happen again, you are unbanned, please be careful on what you say." or something... not a perm ban where we've spent real good money on for furniture, FROM HABBO, just because moderators can't take that little time to check, but instead perm the mstraight away. what about a, suspended, so then someone else can look further into it, but it was permed straght away, and wit ha request sent saying what i have said, which is totally true, and to not even be unbanned or ban shortened... it's like you want to get rid of users. Since this, I haven't paid for credits anymore, simply because I'm not risking getting banned over redioucilous reasons, and to know that you, reditz as just said why should moderators look 2 steps into someones report before permining them when they could get over 100 'these days auto replys' done!.

It's in the Habbo way not to sell. Maybe he was joking, but why joke? It is clear it is against the T&C and will get you banned. Its idiotic to even joke about such things on there.

They need more mods if the current ones don't even have enough time to look into something.

Looks like they're hiring more Moderators according to Sulake.com

Economics.

Having a moderator spend an hour looking into logs to prove whether someone was joking or not is a terrible use of time. If you want a service which has that level of investigation on calls (and I can tell you for free that NO game operates on that basis), then it would require hundreds more staff. Staff costs are one of the biggest costs any company in any sector face and those costs get passed on to customers.

Do you really think the average Habbo player would be happy to pay vastly more for such things as credits simply in order to ascertain whether players are joking or not? My guess is that most players probably wouldn't be happy to finance a few thoughtless players who want free reign to joke about whatever they want with no consequences.

I mean like... sometimes they can't even look into a stupidly simple, most obvious case.

What would you call a 'stupidly simple, most obvious case' ?

Post it here as I would like to see an example of it too.
