Hiya, Well im 16 at the moment, and im really excited about getting a car, and learning to drive, i know you have to be 17 to drive but is my birthday next month and i have several questions about learning and driving!, i've been promised for my birthday, a Car and Road tax and Insurance when i Eventually pass, I had a few question here goes ; 1. Im 16 and have a provisional licence is it legal if my dad sits next to me in the car whilst i drive at 16? hes had his licence for 20 years + . 2. Can you do your theory test on your birthday? and is it wise if you've been revising for about 3 months. 3. Im thinking about purchasing my sisters vw polo 51' plate for £500 anyone have this car? and lastly! 4. think i could pass before the summer?
+Rep for helping ! :)
Thanks!

You can only learn to drive at the age of 16 if you're receiving disability living allowance at the higher rate, also for you to drive accompanied by your father, you'd still need provisional insurance don't forget. It totally depends on the person as to how long it takes them to pass, some will do it much faster then others. Good luck with your theory, you're bound to pass if you've done that much revision :D

You cannot drive on the road until you are 17, whether you have a provisional or not. Before I turned 17 I went with my dad out in his car to a quiet, out the road car park and practiced pulling away etc in his car. You can do your theory on your birthday if you want, although usually alot of people wait until they've had some lessons but I guess it's good to get it out the road.
That seems a pretty reasonable price for a car like that, what's the mileage/condition etc? your insurance will be dear though. Here's a guide to first cars (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=665461) that I wrote, hopefully it should help.
Passing by the summer seems realistic also if you get plenty practice! I started in Feb and passed by August, but that's cos my instructor ripped me off, yo
1. No
2. Yes, Theory test is quite easily passable if you have common sense and brush up on your road signs. That's based of what the test was like when I passed it may have changed a bit since then.
3. From what I remember VW's in general are expensive to become insured upon.
4. Passing is possible I did mine in 2.5 months, best method is to take lessons for the first 3 weeks or until you are fairly confident on the road. Then continue lessons as well as practising with a parent during the week.
You can apply for your provisional 3 months before your 17th birthday and start taking lessons.

I'm starting driving lessons this Friday. Doing 2 a week and hope to be driving by summer. It takes usually 5-7 months.
