View Full Version : Displaying Recent Rep In Your Signature

Hello :D.

I recently had to remove my 'Recent Rep' from my signature because it was against the forum rules. However, I've just noticed that there are many other users doing this as well. So, I took a look through both the Forum Rules and the FAQ and all I could find is:

A4. Do not post private details or information ~ We do not allow you to post private information about yourself due to security concerns. Disclosing any information about another forum user without their consent is also not allowed. This includes:
Private messages
Reputation comments
Private conversations (MSN, Habbo, etc.)
Images / videos of the user or links to a page where an image/video of another user is located (this includes social networking sites, facebook, myspace etc))
Trying to organize real life meet-ups
It is also not allowed to give out the personal details (specific address, phone number etc) of anyone, forum user or otherwise.

You are, however, allowed to post pictures of yourself although they are not allowed in your avatar or signature. You may also share your email address and social networking profiles on the forum.

This only says 'Reputation Comments' and to me doesn't sound as though we can't mention names, which is likely to be why many users have 'Recent Rep' boxes in their signatures. I therefore think that something should be added to either the Forum Rules and/or the FAQ. Sorry if there already is something that I've missed!

Thanks :D.

Seems strange you were told to remove this?

People have been doing this for YEARS

Yeah seems odd that people have been doing this ever since the system was introduced and it's suddenly being "cracked down on" (for lack of a better phrase).
I don't see a problem with it really; it's not begging for rep and it's not posting rep comments.

It's a silly reason to make someone remove their signature, I can see where posting minus rep can be a bit tricky when it comes to that, but if you're not VIP on the forum and you can't see what person gave you plus or minus rep, and they tell you, I'm pretty sure that's their saying that they don't care if you post it or not.

Recent +rep is permitted, you didn't have to remove that - as Milestone has said that's been allowed for years. However, as in some instances we give users the chance to -rep anonymously, and because minus rep is negative and naming them could be seen as targetting it has never been allowed to have the names of those who have issued you negative reputation.

is this permitted:

Last + rep from: MrJordan
Last - rep from: some idiot

I have always seen people posting -rep names - it has always been allowed.

Either that or the moderators are inadequate, which I don't think they are.

Yes

It's never been allowed in the whole time I have worked on HabboxForum, any time it has been seen it's been requested to be removed, I could prove this but I can't be arsed to search through every members usernotes to prove it.

Why would you want to name who gave you -rep in the first place? Losing rep isn't a triumph :P You could say "Last positive rep from: x" and "Time since negative rep: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" so it looks like you're bearable to be around :P

Because users don't like -repping people publically lol

Yes

So you're allowed to insult another forum member by calling them an idiot, just because you don't name them? The user that gave them the negative rep will still be almost certain that it's about them because negative rep isn't given out that often, so the effect is still the same, they get offended.

You'd be surprised how often negative rep is given out, there's no certainty to whoever its about, it's not full on targetting and insulting it's merely showing they are pissed off that they got -repped. I've only ever seen a couple of sigs like this mind, the one stated in this thread and another saying "from some noob". Hardly insults and rudest comments on HxF of the year, are they? :P

I don't see the problem with displaying who you've -repped. I mean, if they've done it, they would've had a reason. I don't see the issue as long as it doesn't say "Last -rep: Mrs.McCall THE STUPID IDIOT" then surely that's OK?

As for what Trinity said, if you -rep someone, they're not going to like it!! Plus, the person putting it in their sig couldn't possibly know they are the last person to -rep.
