"crunching" sound

I was on GT5 earlier, and I left it on idle for a bit so all the videos starting playing etc. Randomly, I hear some crunching sound as if something was being crushed or scratching. The disc was fine and as far as im aware i havnt got any corrupted data. Any idea what it was?

im afraid to turn my ps3 on now as when I just turned it back on it started doing it again.

Look it up on internet forums maybe, or email sony. It's not happened to me so I wouldn't know. :P
