Sorry if this is in wrong place I wasn't really sure!
Basically.
I hate P.E! I'm in Year 10 and today in P.E it was football and its so stereotypical of my stupid p.e teacher to think all boys love football but FYI I'm gay and also hate football so basically I'm not going to play football naturally. So I decided to just stand there and watch the ball roll pass -fun.
Anyway my P.E teacher is FORCING me to go back on wednesday to football club and apparntly if I don't go I am going to get isolation the next day WHICH IS SO NOT FAIR! Because all the chavs go and I am not making a fool of myself by playing football and then getting shouted at by the chavs when I miss a goal or something. (Trust me I shouldn't be allowed near a football thats how bad I am)
Now, my mum has said she will write me a note but seeing as my p.e teacher is also my head of year i doubt he will take notice and I will STILL end up in isolation but basically I am not in a million years going to football club and id rather go to isolation but I have triple drama the day after crappy football club and if I don't go I will miss my final lessons before my controlled assesment and I really can't afford to miss that cuz that will be a massive chunk of my grade gone.
Srsly I hate him so much. no-one tell me next time i should just take part because never ever in a million billion years will i play football

tough luck. everyones had to do something in p.e that they don't wanna do at times. if a letter doesn't work then you'll have to do it or face the consequences. welcome to the joys of being in education.

I once was in the same situation as you. We were doing dance and I down right refused to do it. Got through to her a bit, not much though.
However, I myself think you could comprimise with the teacher, tell him you do not like football and you shouldn't be forced to do it.
On the other hand, I don't think it's fair that he is forcing you. Can't you say you would rather do detention or something instead?
Basically try comprimising as ditching ain't very good.

Because all the chavs that love P.E never listen in any other lesson e.g english & maths, and I suffer because of that, now p.e isn't even a gcse and I'm not goign to make a fool of myself.
btw, don't tell me to man up.

Thanks for the advice, but trust me, hes the ******* meantest teacher I've ever had and he won't compromise, if it was a detention I would do it but i'm not goign to put myself in a position where I am going to get abuse at some stupid football club because 1) I can't play football 2) chavs have a tendency to be homophobic. Also this teacher knows very well how much I hate football.
I will get my mum to phone up and tell them I am not doing it cuz I have rehearsels and LOADS of revision to do which obviously is more of a priority

I've seen people bring in notes to get out of P.E. We have to play Rugby sometimes but it's so boring but I still participate. I feel that you should get involved in some way no matter how bad it is but of course your reluctant not to. The alternative is to actually get your parents to come in or ring in to confer about the situation. I'm sure it will resolve it eventually.

If I was you I would forget your pe kit unless he would make you do it in uniform. I suggest you make your mum write a note, and give it to the Head of Pe or assistant head. So your head of year has no way of punishing you for leaving school!

get your mum to call up the school then and ask to do p.e with the girls. you won't be doing football, but boy you'll get taken the piss out of even more. but if you don't care, then i suppose that'll be the only way around it since you said he's strict. but bloody hell it's only football :l

I'm already in a mixed P.E group but it rained so they put all the boys together and the girls together. so normally its not a problem because we normally do really pathetic things like 'team building'

If I don't bring in a kit he will make me do it in some skanky school one and if I refuse to wear it I'll get isolation.

It's not as if its a bad change. Self improvement n that. Just man up and do it.
Better you learn now how to do stuff you dont wanna than later in your life when its something much worse than a couple annoying kids and a football.

(I've only read first page so sorry if anyone's said it)
What's being gay got to do with not liking football?
Anyway, don't just 'watch the ball pass' then. Even if you hate it or youre not very good at it, at least try and put some effort in then your teacher wont give you such a bad time. He might still be a *** but he can't fault you for trying your best.

I couldn't man up if I tried sorry people :)
Also I don't want to play football hence why I didn't play hence why I am not goign to football club.
You people can attempt to persuade me to play football next time but nothig is going to convince me I would rather have isolation. I know what your trying to say people but I have tried to play before but I just make a fool of myself and I would rather not again therefore I'm not playing. Also my p.e teachers a homophobe which ahs to do withit because co-incidentally two other gay people have to go back to football club for not putting effort in when I was the only one who refused and they both tried to play.

Suck it up, buttercup.
Since when did school come with a clause that you don't have to do the bits you don't like? Not everything is enjoyable kid, but kicking up a fuss and being stubborn about it isn't gonna make people respect you for standing up for yourself, it just makes you look like a mong. Sexuality has nothing to do with it, even if you're camper than a row of tents (my femininity is somewhat infamous and I love football), and the sooner you accept that you sometimes have to do things you don't like the sooner you'll have acceptance - and hell, you might even enjoy yourself

Agreed yeah! why ask for advice, if you are just going your own sweet way!! As well i'd say don't "diss" the chavs ... you don't like PE just like they don't like English etc ... at least they are going to Footy!! I know if you're extremely open (I'm not sure what the politically correct term is here, but visibly gay?) then a lot of people don't like that and I could see how in a physical education class how other students would use that as an opportunity to bother you.
That being said though I don't think you can attribute the fact that you're gay toward you being unsuccessful at football. There are many gay, feminine boys and girls who are really good football players.
As it's a class, and you're enrolled in it I don't think you could opt out of not participating in what your class is doing because you're bad at it - you can't not do the math in your math course because you're bad at it and expect to pass - In a physical education class if someone's giving you a hard time I'd say the best way to avoid it is to stick close to your friends as much as you can throughout the class, and if it's still unbearable you should approach the teacher, councillor or your parents about it. As embarrassing as it sounds if they're bothering you that much you have to do it.

If it's that bad and your teacher is targeting you then you really should talk to a councillor about it. As for football I really just don't think you can do much about that. In Canada between 16 and 18 years old in the education system you require a minimum of one education credit, either PAL or GYM. in PAL the students don't really have to meet any outcomes and can opt out of whatever they want, but in GYM it's much more strict and very competitive. Your physical education class sounds a lot like the latter so unfortunately I don't think you can really get out of doing football entirely, but you shouldn't have to deal with anyone bothering you whilst you play it.

I absolutely hated playing football in PE and I really just took it as an opportunity to annoy the people who were good at it. I'd ask for the ball then pass it to the other team; it annoyed the people who were good at football and then they just stopped giving the ball to me - which is what I wanted! :P

A teacher cannot make you go to an optional club and then put you in isolation because of it. I'd honestly just complain about him. If his reason is because of lack of effort in lesson, then you get a standard detention where you just sit and be bored and do the odd task.

I am in the same situation tbh. My teacher just plays football, football, football every god damn term and its not fair because we are supposed to be doing tennis, basketball, badminton etc which are sports I enjoy and like doing, so I just dont go to his lesson, I go to my media teacher and ask him if I can stay with him and he gets me my mark so it looks like I was in P.E :)
Alexx..
15-01-2011, 02:25 PM
If football is a part of your lessons then there's not much you can do about it tbh, you'll have to suck it up and carry it on. If it's an extra curriculum thing then you can't be forced to go.
You could maybe complain and ask your headteacher or whatever to do like more games to suit everyone?
Im wasnt fussy about what i did in P.E apart from gym stuff (balance beams and horses) so i faked an injury e.g. say i twisted my ankle on the stairs just, and because i participated in everything else, they couldn't care. Football was a fun time for me, i was usually a defender and my team was crap so id usually get the ball and the sole purpose of me on the ball was to volley it back up field, not a hard task and usually id aim for people to hit.
You should try that :D trying to hit people makes it more... fun :)

yeah this is what i was thinking?
if it's within the lesson he has every right to try and make you get involved, that is his job. but if he's threatening you with isolation to make you give up your time outside of school to play football then just report him, that isn't an acceptable reason at all.
even though i guess this is over now anyway cos this thread is over a week old? :P how did it go ?
Right, i really think people who say "man up" need to **** off. :L Highly doubt they have been in this position.
I was sort of like this, i hated P.E (not im not fat) i just disliked it as i seen it as pointless and hardly any exercise.
I got out of P.E for around 3/4 years straight. I just kept faking notes from my parents and he soon got bored.

Thanks everyone whos offered advice and sympathised with me, everything turned out ok because I didn't turn up and I didn't get isolation. I went to my form tutor about it and complained and my form tutor also hates him and she spoke to him about it and now he isn't allowed to talk to me so my form tutor is like my head of year now (and shes really nice) and now I only have to do 1 hour of P.E and I chose what to do :)
omg your like exactly the same as me i havent read what everyone else said but yeah this sounds exactly like me,
I just used to make it look like I was taking part by running around but I was actually avoiding the ball (i.e pretend to "mark" someone but actually be nowhere near the ball and just jog around a bit) trust me I did this from year 7-11. Worked a treat.
My P.E teacher was exactly the same too and was head of year haha, you've just got to put up with the P.E until the end of year 11 and trust me it feels so good the day you have your last lesson :)
Just take the note in and if that fails take it to the head teacher!
edit: oh reads your post above! turned out well for you then!

Are you going to skip your exams as well seeing as most of them are fairly pointless and not enjoyable?
There's a lot of things in life people aren't good at and don't enjoy, you're never going to develop into a better person by simply running away from the situation. I'm not saying you should improve your football, but it's not a good habit to get into by avoiding everything you don't like doing. Frankly it's quite childish and pathetic behaviour if I'm brutally honest. It's law that you have to do 2 hours compulsory PE a week, every school in the country does this so I don't see why you're so special, just respect it and get on with it, you don't even have to be enthusiastic about it but at least turn up.

Is it? We only do 1 hour for our first week and then 2 hours the next...
And everybody elses in my year is the same - nobody does double P.E each week at my school.

Either way it's compulsory education and most definitely not an opt-out lesson.
I kind of enjoyed P.E, i wish it was 4 hours compulsary, never had enough time to play rugby or footy with all the idiots in the changing rooms, that was 1/3rd of our allotted time gone

Actually it's not the law... it's the reccomended time by the government. and no because exams aere worth something in life, whereas P.E will never be of use to me, don't even give me any bull about teambuilding or **** because I don't need p.e for that...

Really glad to hear it all worked out for you in the end :)

Good luck finding any school not doing PE, everybody does it that's the bottom line, what makes you think you're so special? And no not all exams are worth something in life I think you'll find most are worthless whilst your at school (of course you're being told right now they're the most important things in your life but GCSEs are quite laughable really).
Whilst I'm sure you get some massive ego boost from beating the "big bad" PE teacher, you just look like a socially inept moron who can't handle not being good at something outside of the classroom to everyone else.
Your attitude is frankly appalling and won't get you anywhere if you feel you can just not do anything you don't like, you're not the ******* king.

Actually, yes, it IS a legal requirement.
P.E. Was a doss around for us, me and my mates just went and walked round the field chatting, making huge rude sand sculptures and talking to the P.E. teacher, love ittttt.

This. PE is one of the best lessons, kick around a ball chatting with friends, or sit in a classroom. Any child who wouldn't prefer the foremost is a moron.
Wait.. so by football club you mean extracurricular? If so, it's not compulsory and your school can't force you to go to it and they can't give you a detention for not going.
If I was you I would take it to somebody higher than than him. If nothing is done, contact your local MP. My sisters old school did something similar to this and the school didn't listen to my mum so my mum contacted the local MP and pretty much got it sorted out :)
Right now I go swimming with school every Thursday. I've only ever had one swimming class and can't do frontcrawl or underwater and I'm generally unable to swim. I try, anyway, and fail as usual; but everybody understands and we're all alright. You get respect for trying and failing, the same you would get for trying and succeeding. Most of it comes from the first word in that equation.

Thank you for the advice people but the problem has been sovled now, thanks anyway:) People who are having a go at me, do you really think I care what you think? If the case is that its a legal requirement then my school is breaking the law because I only do one hour.
And actually, the gcses are way more important than P.E, because if I don't get them I won't get into college, if I don't get into college I won't get into university, if I don't get into university I can't get the job i want. Therefore, yes, they are important.
