according to yahoo answers

Originally the 360 came with a 1 year warranty from Mircosoft. Then they extended it to 3 years ONLY for the Red Ring of Death. Then a couple of months ago they also extended it for the E74 error code. So in sum total the warranties are:

3 years for Red Ring of Death and E74 error code
1 year for everything elsehttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090709120245AAvh2mi

that was posted 2 years ago though, but i dont see why they'd change it

if you register your console you can get e74 error fixed for free, a generic rrod needs warranty and i think you have to purchase a warranty now. otherwise its £60-£70

yeah my warranty ended for rrod so it says i needa pay 125$

Anyone think this will work?

Buy a new xbox take out the inside parts put it in my xbox take out my broken inside parts and place it in the one i purchase then return ?

that way i get the new parts which should fix my problem ? but i guess morally wrong but meh

You could gutswap.. but then again why would you buy another xbox to commit fraud?

I dunno cuz it bugs me that i payed around $300 for an xbox i played maybe 20 times then it gets the red rings? after i didnt touch it for months.
Morally wrong but its stupid how it just breaks like that plus stores have millions.

Just buy a nice xbox and be done with it, I doubt Microsoft will fix RROD for free anymore

Sorry I meant to put new, idk why I typed nice. Well if you know that for a fact, what's the issue? Send it off for repair, my friend sent hers off and it was back in a couple of weeks

yeah i found out with help from this thread, but i found out my warranty is over and it'll cost $125 to repair.

Its just annoying because prior to getting the RROD i honestly only played it like 20 times within 3 years... and it breaks ?
Anyways im gonna try the towel trick when i have time, and if not i'll think about gut swapping.

Anyone ever done it and has it worked? I figure its worth a shot

Is Microsoft seriously still having problems with this? Typical of rushed hardware. Thankfully mine hasn't had any problems in a few years, though that's likely due to lack of use.

And $125 to repair? I'm sure you could get a replacement cheaper then that at this point, at least used/refurbished.

Yeah exactly, makes no sence to send it in - and its annoying cuz i've used it like 20 times in 3 years... maybe like 30 minutes each time lmao

anyways my other post was about the sucess of the towel trick, if anyone has done it lemme know if it worked well ?

on the older xboxs they still do, but the newer ones are pretty much safe from the rrod now

Go to your local electronics repair shop and they should fix it on the cheap, or at least know a guy who can do it.

Buy a new Xbox, bin or eBay the old one. Job done, stop moaning.
