I'm confused as to why banning same-sex marriage is somehow 'hateful'?

Personally i'm not against gay marriage, just I do not view it as equal to a religious marriage between a hetrosexual couple.

This is the exact reason why they're doing.
Marriage is equal, to anyone and everyone. It's actually in the Human Rights department that you can get married, OUT. OF. LOVE.
Why do people fail to see this? If it's love, then it's okay..

I have a homosexual sister that wants to get married, but it's forbidden due to Australian laws.
It's stupid. They're human too.. Not some alienated race. If a female has to dress up as a male to get a sex change.. Then I guess that would have to happen.

People need to grow up and move on.

I have nothing against gays but marriage is the formation of a stable family to bring up offspring. Gays can't do this, so it shouldn't be allowed. I'm not religious or homophobic, this is my belief of what marriage is.

Also it doesn't help that they have used who looks to be an ex-con and a young boy in their publicity photos.

well me personally being gay, I think some of you have pre-historic ideas on gay marriage... marriage is there to prove your love and also proves by law that you are spouses. Do you think people chose to be gay? If it was like that then would there be gay people? No, there wouldn't, we're not gay for fun and we should be given the opportunity to marry if we wish.

Btw, I never think I'll get married but I do think I will settle down with someone, the idea of a marriage just doesn't appeal to me and the idea of two men getting married makes me cringe, but thats just me and other gays may want to

You can spice up a civil ceremony to make it exactly like a "normal" church wedding in all aspects other than it being consecrated, so what's the issue? You can't campaign for and vote on changing religious law and that side of it is the only difference these days

Also prenups are hilarious it's like I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you... BUT JUST IN CASE I CHANGE MY MIND...

Because I don't see marriage as depending on genitals, I view marriage as the bedrock of the family and always will do despite how worn down and worthless it has become amongst many people in this country leading to broken family homes and women basically being married to the state and dependent on the state with children viewing the state as the income provider. But thats another story.

This topic is a great debate idea, should be moved into the debate section. But if you're disregarding two people loving each other.. Then you're bias.
That is all there is to it. You can't be half/half, you either support it or don't.

I know there are other aspects and differences between males and females, but in marriage.. That's probably the only thing denying their equality.
My point is, it shouldn't matter whether or not what your gender is.. This day and age is all about equality. Gender, race, sexual preference.. It all shouldn't matter.
