I always buy new software from:
http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Office_2010-software.aspx?gclid=COLfz5jkyKYCFZMl3wod_CoEIg
Otherwise Ebay but make sure that it has a usuable licence on it. :)

Download, but you can ask to have a disk sent to you for about £3 or something tiny. Also, it's Micosoft Office 2010 now :) It's a bit better than 2007 too :)

What's the actual difference of 2010 and 2007 versions? Also if I give my friend the disk after installing on my laptop, will he able to install it?

I haven't got microsoft, 2010 so Gomme will have to answer that one. If you get a disk with a licence that allows more than one user - yes. Otherwise, no.

Don't they usually do both when you buy the disk :S It was ages ago I used them, but I'm sure I got given a link to the download and the disk served as a hardcopy for when the link expires. Or I'm thinking of Ultimate Steal :P

Hmm, hard to say. I guess the main difference is that Microsoft have moved important things into convenient places and added a few useful features. When you print a page you get a preview of the end result rather than having to go to print preview as with older copies, so it's combined the two features - you also don't get a "print" window pop up, it's all done in the Word document, which is a small thing but it does mean you can play around with settings at the same time. It was a while ago I last used 2007, and I haven't used PowerPoint 2010 yet :P
A few webpages on differences:

Either way, you'd be given 2010 rather than 2007, unless they're still somehow selling it :)

You can download for immediate use but I wait for the disc. It comes pretty quickly.

On that site it seems to require you to give the name of your school, college or university. So i'm thinking yes. It looks considerably cheap to be honest I might get mine from their too.

To prove you are a student:
Type in a local school, put in any name.
They don't appear to check.

Well I just registered and put put my name and college now changed to uni and it seems fine.
This is what it says:
Students in any level of education and their family members are eligible.
