View Full Version : Why disable trading in Game rooms?

I have noticed that since the merge, trading has been disabled in Game rooms.
This is a huge shame and I presume it happened as a lot of game room owners scammed. Thing is, a lot didn't scam either. Now it means:
a) Trade room section is full of games
b) point a means that its hard to look through the trade room section to find shops and casinos and trade rooms as its full of game rooms and trade rooms, so its irritating.
c) its highly unfair for those game room owners who did not scam.
I understand Habbo wants to reduce the chances of scamming for those who do win games, but the scammers will just put the game room under TRADE ROOMS and still scam?
Unfortunately this was a irritating move by Habbo and it hasn't worked, only made it worse as people who wanted to scam are still scamming and TRADE ROOM section is full of various rooms not related to trading.

I really do agree. This is especially annoying in Habbox Events. We like to put rooms under the Gaming section, but end up having to keep it in the Trading Rooms due to prizes being given out!
To be perfectly honest though, it was a lot easier when you could just items in donations rooms - it made giving out prizes so much easier.

Well it made it easier for Hackers which I am pretty sure Habbo did not want. Now in order to hack, you need to have both your (clone) account and theirs online, making it easier for Habbo to find you and perm you.

Couldn't agree with you more. Trade rooms are choke full of all sorts of rooms, primarily games. It was a move done by habbo that as it turns out doesn't work. Hopefully they realise the mistake and will go back on it soon.

Indeed. A staff needs to ring up Head office and explain it to them.

Yeah a lot of people play just for fun, but a lot of people play to try and get furni - especially new Habbos.

Loved this reply,
but the jist of this is pretty much true, it does stop spam trading.
A possible solution could be that in Trading rooms, trade is always on, whereas in all other rooms, there should be an owner option in the room settings to temporarily turn trade on.

What HowIAm has said is basically the idea I've always had in mind and will hopefully be implemented one day:
- the category chosen and whether trade is on/off are completely different room options and are not related. For example, you select 'No Category' and tick 'Enable Trade' or you select 'Mazes and Theme Rooms' and don't tick 'Enable Trade'. Thats just two examples but basically what I'm saying is, that you can choose any category for your room and it doesn't affect whether you can or can not trade as that will be a seperate option and can be a tick box labeled 'Enable Trade'.
The reason for what has been said though, was actually sensible and the right move to make in my opinion. I remember back a few years ago when I used to host/play games a lot more and people used to complain 'someone traded me' but you couldn't just change the category unless you wanted like 'No Category' or something completely unrelated to the actual room which would decrease popularity.
Well it made it easier for Hackers which I am pretty sure Habbo did not want. Now in order to hack, you need to have both your (clone) account and theirs online, making it easier for Habbo to find you and perm you.
They disabled dropping furniture so its easier to track hackers. If the Habbo who has been hacked reports the incident they can track the trades to the account that the furniture was placed on.
Yeah, trading section is now know for the games section also, and it's where people go. No scamming is reduced. It's pointless. Turn trading back on in the games section!!

I don't think that scamming is the reason why.
Remembering back to just after the merge - the US hotel members NEVER gave prizes apart from rites which could be seen as a reason. However I do agree that there should be an enable/disable button that the room owner can push if they wish to.
Or an option where only the owner can trade (or people with rites maybe) this coulld also save time as they wouldn't need to change the category. On the other hand this could work in casinos and trade rooms
- It wouuld stop in-door scammers.
-There would be no pushing in, in shops.
There would on the other hand have to be anoption to allow everyone to trade though as it would be needed in trade cities.

This isn't one I've heard anything about so I can't speculate on why it was done. I do a monthly round-up of player concerns drawn from fansites which I give to the development team so I'll add this issue to my list for January and pass it on.
Just allow the owner to trade and no one else to. That's all they need for the gaming section.
@Redtiz Awesome.

Unless there are other hosts for the game, so that would make it impossible for them to take p2s or give prizes, etc.

In my previous post I said that it wouldn't work in trady cities and such therefore there should be an option to choose who trades.
-Just the owner
-Everyone
