Hey guys.
I'm in need of an ethernet splitter (preferably a cheap one). Only thing is we have 3 people needing ethernet connection on the top floor and the splitters I can find only have two ethernet ports.
Basically I'm looking for one that can:
Connect to the cable I'm running up the wall from the modem
Connect my PC
Connect Housemate 1 PC
Connect Housemate 2 PC
Is this possible?

25 quid? lol no. I'd rather just run 3 cables up the wall..

Would that work?

You can't have more than 2 computers on one splitter, splitters use up wire in the ethernet cable
that isn't usually used with one device to provide a second connection.
You'd be better off with a switch: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-Prosafe-Ethernet-Unmanaged-Switch/dp/B00009015U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1295796717&sr=8-2
EDIT: Saw the above two posts. Yes it would work but I'd generally go for a more reliable brand such as Netgear or Linksys.

Hmm. I'm not really in to paying 25 quid plus cables though...

Yes, I seen that but it's still 25 quid.. and then I have to buy the cable etc. I'm a cheapskate.
Better than paying 6 quid, it breaking really quick and then paying another 25 quid

I suppose. Still money I'd rather not spend.

And cabling http://www.ebuyer.com/search?sort=pricelow&store=4&cat=24&filtersubcat=2427&limit=10&page=1 choose patch cables of whatever length you want. Shouldn't need a crossover cable if the router you're connecting to is decent enough to detect it properly.

^ I have one of them running a PS3 and a media computer, with space for two more devices, and it's never broken. I also know someone else who has that very one (who also recommended that one) and it's never broken.
