Oh hai :D

Well my laptop has decided to go and die on me and cause all kinds of problems meaning I've had to use this crappy old PC today and it's really horrible and lags and stuff.

The laptop is most likely repairable, I wanted to restore it to factory settings, but I don't have a disc and I tried all kinds of methods which failed. :(

but anwayyyy....

I thought it would be best to buy myself a new computer.

I would use it mostly for internet stuff/word stuff etc but I like going on some games sometimes as well and stuff.

My budget is rather low, so I'm wondering if people think it would be worth getting a new computer for around £500 or whether it would be best to try restore my laptop somehow (its a windows vista acer aspire 6920G laptop) think I think is riddled with viruses or something since when I start it up loads of programs I've never heard of "stop responding" and firefox opens by itself multiple times, and it's gone really really laggy and the memory always runs out even tho its got like 4gb of ram. :'(

So yeah I just don't know what to do. I guess it would be nice to have a new computer for once, however its just annoying that I can't restore the laptop somehow easier. The nearest computer repair store is like 20 miles away and I don't really want to take it there.

Cheers guys

Acer will have put a recovery partition on the drive.

Acer will have put a recovery partition on the drive.

That sounds very complicated LOL

The thing I tried was:

hitting F8 on startup
clicking "repair your system"
then it loaded and asked me for a username/password
I tried my normal one but it didn't work. :(

I also tried holding alt and pressing f10 on startup but that brought up a boot settings page or something.

It's all too confusing :'( Would be much easier had I had the disc :(

Hmm, I'm very tempted by this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5083974/Trail/searchtext%3ETOUCHSCREEN+COMPUTER.htm

Anyone with experience in these things reccomend one of those? xD

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with touch screen Martin.

It really isn't as exciting as it is made out to be!

Also, why not just backup any important documents, spend £40 on windows whatever and format the hdd. You can then install windows 7 and you have it :)
